Diploma Project_The green Doors Of Barcelona

“The Collserola’s Doors” was an international competition held by the government of Barcelona. The city is bordered on the north by the Collserola Mountains, but is effectively cut off from this connection to nature because of urban development and highways. The competition was about rethinking the border ( as a green border) between the natural park of Collserola and the City of Barcelona. This border was divided into 16 parts called “Les portes de Collserola” and I’ve studied one of these: the “Porta of Penitents”. I wanted to design this area by studying and developing an urban section, that is able to connect the two extreme natural poles of the city.

The city of Barcelona has varied and distinctive architecture layered compared to urban spaces, territorial organizations and to its conformation. The urban section project meets several time tracks that identify its structure and playing a key role with the important green presence: glue of the entire project.

2. Definizione del percorso principale che taglia le nuove soglie e che si compone di lame direzionali esterne alle soglie stesse

3. Progettazione degli edifici inseriti ai margini delle tre soglie individuate secondo un attenta proporzione. La rotazione dello stesso quadrato, proporzionandone le dimensioni, genera la regola con la quale avviene la nuova disposizione degli edifici in un nuovo nodo.

The idea of working on a waterfront architecture (a port structure) refers to a singular space whose interpretation keys put us in a theme that connects architecture with landscape. The port of Motril is the meeting point between the city and the sea. The port, however, is isolated from the urban context, which is 2 miles away. For this reason the project stems from a citizens to keep alive that area, highlighting the major social and sporting activities of the place. The project is initially planned by cultural and social spaces and ,after that, looks for a continuous relationship with the surrounding open space. The construction communicates with a unique landscape characterized by the edge of the sea and the horizon line.

The project consists of 3 rectangular buildings that play with the marine edge and create an important public spaces between them. The architectural box is related with the sea by cutting the edge and framing in it.The cover plays an important role because its climb gradually down towards the sea. 19

5th year project_Wellness center SPA Molentargius

The new wellness center Molentargius saltworks , with its function, wants to become a new tourist service attraction and is aimed not only at cure the body, but also, at the value of the project site. The nature park is situated in an area that is opposite to abandoned saltworks. In addition to these unique beautiful place, the design idea of a spa is born from a desire to think of a building in which salt is one of the main material. the central positioning of the spa comes from a series of considerations: easy accessibility (one of the main streets is located behind the building); centrality of the park, close to Cagliari.

“The strong line of highly saltworks, that mark the territory, choose the inclination of the complex. The building is opened towards the sea and saltworks, and is closed on the back, towards the main street Behind the building, there is the car and bus parking. Inside the spa there are also included a restaurant,an hotel and fitness area. These spaces are related to each other. Simple rectangular shapes are project’s basis. The displacement of these respect to a chosen axis, and the relationship between the various ”boxes“, define the building.

The railway yard Farini in Milan, is one of the largest and most important urban void spaces of the city. Its central location, makes this area one of the greatest and more interest in Milan. The urban-request is the construction of a new "zip" able to re-unify the two sides of the city, separated by time. The centrality and the width of the area makes it even more interesting. the project research new hubs, new residential typologies, able to attract citizens and, therefore, to re-qualify the area and the life of the same place

Starting from a careful analysis of the context, we have decided to appoint to the Green, a new park, the real “glue� role. The area north of railway yard has been confirmed as the reconstruction of the margin, while the south part, has been designed through a careful study of the blocks and residential types. 34

The blocks are the product of an existing urban fabric that are “pulled up� to the center of the urban void. The voltage generated by this action draw new isolates, and especially new typology, which are also subjected of the same tensile stress. The new residential buildings emphasize the main idea of the project: the importance of space between one building and another one. _Ground study 35

The project is located in Porta Genova, Milan. The area is crossed by a railway network that connects Porta Genova and the colsest “Darsena”, with the suburbs of Milan's: “via Tortona” and “Naviglio” (important area for fashion design and its recent upgrades). The project wants to placed a cultural building (in this case an art museum) that is able to fill the void which distinguishes the urban area, and also to call the attention of the citizens of Milan in that urban void. The new building is positioned between two existing buildings: the Porta Genova train station, and a historical railway warehouse. The keywords of the project are flexibility and accessibility.

The idea of the building is to build a place that can be as flexible as possible from the functional point of view, and penetrable by many points as possible from the park in which it is completely immersed.

For these reazon we have the idea to design a large glass box in which, based on a designed grill, square or rectangular modules are placed in different positions, almost floating in the large container.

These small boxes increase their importance in the sections: sometimes pierce the ground, and sometimes escape from the roof to look for external relations and catch the light. In the basement the research communication becomes even more apparent in the basement. It allows for a strong connection with the mezzanine of the existing green line metro of Porta Genova. From that place is infact posible to enter drectly to the new art Museum
