Lerøy Seafood can trace its operations back to 1899, when the fishermanfarmer Ole Mikkel Lerøen started selling live fish at the local fish market in Bergen. Today Lerøy has grown to include 3800 employees operating in our global network within Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, The Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, China, Japan and the USA. Lerøy Seafood is the leading exporter of seafood from Norway and one of the world’s largest producers of Atlantic Salmon. Our vision is “Lerøy in every kitchen”, and each day we supply 5 million meals of seafood to more than 70 markets worldwide.

We are proud to supply a total range of seafood products from Norway. This includes a wide range of species such as Salmon, Fjord Trout, Cod, Saithe, Haddock, and Shellfish. We offer fresh or frozen whole fish (gutted head on/off), fillets, loins, portions and blocks with different trimming and cuts. Furthermore, Lerøy offers value-added products such as smoked, marinated, breaded and mixed products, all produced from one of our 22 processing facilities. We are a fully integrated company, carefully following each step in the production from catch and harvest to finished product. High quality is ensured by control systems based on HACCP and BRC, and we have full traceability on all our 3000 products.


A LEADER IN WHITEFISH In 2016, Lerøy acquired Havfisk and Norway Seafoods; two of the leading Norwegian whitefish harvesting and processing companies. The acquisition has greatly strengthened Lerøy’s position within the European whitefish segment and ensures ownership and access to more than 100,000 MT of quality raw material including cod, saithe and haddock. Havfisk is Norway’s leading trawler company, holding approximately 11% of the total Norwegian catch quota for whitefish. Total catch amounts to about 60,000 MT(HG weight) on an annual basis. In 2015 the total catch volume was 58,200 MT, including 28,900 MT of Atlantic cod, 7,900 MT haddock and 9,100 MT saithe. As of 2017, Havfisk has a very modern fleet of 11 vessels. Norway Seafoods is one of Europe’s largest in processing, sales and distribution of whitefish. Norway Seafoods has Norway’s largest landing network for whitefish with 13 landing stations strategically located along the coast of Northern Norway. Overall, the company handles more than 70,000 MT of whole fish equivalent purchased from over 600 vessels. Norway Seafoods has eight primary processing facilities as well as two secondary production facilities in Northern Norway.

NORWEGIAN SALMON

As one of the world’s largest producers of Atlantic salmon, Lerøy provides an excellent choice in sustainable seafood all year. We have production in every region of Norway, from the south to the north above the Arctic Circle. Our salmon farming follows the best management practices, in accordance to both national and global requirements. We serve the world with one of the safest, tastiest and healthiest proteins available while leaving the smallest environmental footprint possible. It takes around 3 years to raise a salmon and Lerøy Seafood controls the complete value chain, from

hatching of the eggs to aquaculture at sea, processing and transportation. Delivered 365 days of the year, Lerøy offers fresh salmon airborne of sashimi grade quality. Our best sushi grade salmon is cut and packaged within 2 hours of harvest.

Microalgae for Omega-3 rich feed Lerøy has introduced micro algae in the feed to be less reliant on fish input material to deliver Omega-3’s which have important health benefits. Since 2014, Lerøy has worked with various microalgae to trigger the production of Omega – 3 fatty acids, so that they can provide a genuine alternative to fish oil. The fish have to

enjoy the taste, the microalgae must be digestible and the raw material must be reasonably priced. Together with the feed company BioMar, Lerøy uses a producer located in south Brazil that produces microalgae by using sugar as a source of energy. The Omega -3 source from algae used by Lerøy is produced using one of the most sustainable and eco-friendly methods available. For several years Lerøy has chosen to sustain a higher level (7,5%) of Omega -3 fatty acids than required in the industry standard (6%), with a view to both fish welfare and the quality of the product. Today, these microalgae support this higher level of Omega-3 in our products.

LERØY FOSSEN More than 200 years of fishing and smoking fish on Osterøy island on the west coast of Norway, is the backbone of Lerøy Fossen smokehouse. In the middle of the astounding Osterfjord, the knowledge of smoking fish from the surrounding fjords have

been handed down through generations. Since its inception in 1972, Lerøy Fossen has embraced traditional methods and artisanal techniques. These traditions continue to this day. The cold waters produce fjord fish with a firm flesh that is ideal for smoking. In accordance

with timeless Norwegian technique fillets are carefully trimmed by hand, dry-salted and then smoked over local alder wood. Alder wood is known for only growing in the best and richest soil. Carefully collected from the local forest on the island the wood gives a unique and mild taste, making Fossen known around the world for its quality.


Olaf Gustavsen was born in 1841 in Stamnes as the first of five children. His father was a farmer, but he also owned the rights to fish salmon in the river Bolstad that runs from Voss down to Stamnes. At a young age, Olaf followed his father when fishing for salmon in the river, and he soon became an excellent fisherman. Olaf Gustavsen took over the farm after his father died in 1873. In the period from 1880, quite a lot of the best fishing places along the river was rented out to wealthy Englishmen. The Gustavsen family, however, decided to utilize the salmon themselves as the value of salmon and trout had started to climb. Olaf took up the tradition of smoking salmon in the manner he had learned from his grandfather. Gradually he developed his own techniques, and today the products are enjoyed by fishlovers all over the world.

With roots dated back to 1949, Sea Eagle smoked salmon combines old fashioned craftmanship with modern scientific research. Sea Eagle is renowned for its high and consistent quality, and is a premium brand suitable for fine foods, catering and food service. Lerøy Seafood group supplies Sea Eagle brand worldwide and maintains the unique quality and taste of the Sea Eagle smoked salmon within our state of the art production units. The salmon goes through a meticulous process. Our salmon is dry salted by hand, and contains no artificial colors or flavors. The salting, curing and smoking create a natural preservative.

ARCTIC SUPREME - where quality meets traceability Arctic Supreme is a quality brand developed by us in close collaboration with a few selected fishermen. More than 100 years of experience has taught us a great deal about processing fish. Fish is a delicate raw material which should be handled with care to preserve its optimal quality. Gentle treatment in all segments ensures supreme quality fish. The nine dedicated fishermen, carefully handpicked by us, share our passion for high quality raw material and together we are producing premium quality products which we are proud to present under the brand Arctic Supreme.

All fish labelled Arctic Supreme has been wild caught by carefully selected fishermen. The work carried out at sea is essential in order to preserve the premium quality. It requires both experience and great knowledge. Fish must be bled as soon as it comes on board, before its put into running seawater and stored in tubs with ice and seawater. This carefully managed process and the skilled hands of our selected fishermen ensure the best possible conditions, and the result - premium quality fish. We always guarantee a maximum of 12 hours from the fish is caught until it’s ready packed with abundant ice in polystyrene boxes.

The unique quality of Arctic Supreme is the traceability and transparency. Every fish comes with a QR code, when scanned it will direct you to the fishermen’s home page where you can find more information about the fishermen, the catching area and get updates from their life ashore.

NORWEGIAN ARCTIC COD – THE WHITE GOLD OF THE NORTH Cod loves Norway’s rough, cold waters and strong currents that keep the water supremely clean. Norway is blessed with the largest cod stock in the world. Since the first Norwegian fleet sailed in 1962, onboard processing and freezing facilities have constantly improved. Today, our sophisticated vessels can stay at sea for weeks at a time, yet still deliver outstanding cod fillets in a modern and sustainable way.

Cod is not just versatile and delicious; it is an excellent source of protein and rich in vitamin B12 and selenium. The lean fish contains only up to 3% fat and almost no carbohydrates. About 150 grams of cod will naturally deliver the recommended daily intake of the vital omega-3 fatty acid. Cod is also an important source of iodine, which helps to regulate the body’s metabolism. On Norway’s most western island, facing the rough and open sea is Bulandet Fiskeindustri. Here we employ many of the 400 inhabitants on the island. We are proud of our long history of only buying the best quality cod caught individually by long line.

Many of our main products are produced using Norwegian Arctic Cod. 1700 fishermen deliver their catch daily to our packing stations located north of the Arctic Circle. Only the best quality fish is packed and from there some of the sea’s finest products find their way to markets worldwide.
