Giggly by Leora Effinger足Weintraub
a SoFoBoMo 2010 book
Giggly Hills in Minneapolis, Minnesota is a place of magic nestled in an oak savanna near the bluffs on the western shores of the Mississippi River. In a field of fragrant clover, atop an oak足crowned rise, surrounded by native wildflowers slowly reclaiming the hill, nature lovers of all kinds gather here. They come for picnics. They come to tend the land by pulling invasive plants and sowing the seeds of new growth. They come for rituals with friends and loved ones. They come to feel the joy of a place that so many have found to be sacred. Through photographs taken on one gorgeous afternoon, this book highlights the natural beauty of Giggly Hills and its effect on those who visit it. Sundrenched skies. Warm breezes. Welcoming shade. The joy of the living world all around you. Giggly.
Acknowledgements: This book would not have been possible without the endless and unconditional support of my wife and model, Eli Effinger足Weintraub. Thanks to her love and gentle prodding, I have been able to become the artist I am today and to continue to pursue my art in whatever form it may take. Thank you for perusing this, my first photography book. Please visit my website at http://leora.thesane.net for more of my photography.
