DUNDEE LAUNCH WEEKEND Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 June 2014 Celebrate the opening of GENERATION exhibitions in Dundee and surrounding areas, by joining the launch; a weekend packed full of dynamic art events in a number of city spaces.

GENERATION is a major, nation-wide exhibition programme showcasing some of the best and most significant art to have emerged from Scotland over a period of 25 years. GENERATION offers access to world-class art on an unparalleled scale, with over 60 venues across Scotland taking part. It’s free, it’s exciting and it’s accessible. This is a once in a generation opportunity.

#YAGgen Journey at GENERATION Dundee Launch Join the Youth Action Group #YAGgen on an interactive social media trail with a difference, around exhibitions and events on Saturday 28 June. Meet them in The McManus Creative Learning studio at 3pm, before starting the journey at the official GENERATION Dundee Launch at Nick Evans: The White Whale exhibition. This is part of a co-production project for young people aged 12 - 25 based across Dundee Contemporary Arts and The McManus, exploring 25 years of Contemporary Art in Scotland. Evans is known for his organically-shaped, white plaster sculptures - The White Whale exhibition is inspired by the Gothic architecture of The McManus and the museum collections contained within.

The McManus is a stunning Victorian Gothic building, housing 8 galleries offering an insight into Dundee. Café and gift shop.

Eye for an Eye

A selection of print works, motion graphics and interactive smart devices created by artist David Lyons and computer scientist David Flatla; exploring visual abilities and perception.

A discursive survey of the grassroots character of artists’ collaboration in Scotland, featuring Graham Eatough & Graham Fagen, Fulleye, GANGHUT & Henry VIII’s Wives. Comprises exhibitions, an event series and a Group Critical Writing Residency edited by Maria Fusco with a 12-hour Jamming Symposium on 25 July.

Cooper Gallery is a distinctive platform in Scotland for challenging and innovative practices, and critical discourse in contemporary art and visual culture.
