What is AIDS? The immune system is the body's defense system and its cells ďŹ ght HIV infection and other diseases. If the immune system does not function properly, the person is at risk of developing complications that can be life threatening. HIV attacks and destroys the cells of the immune system to ďŹ ght disease, and leaves the body defenseless against infections and cancer.

Two types of HIV are known, HIV-1 and HIV-2. In the United States, unless otherwise indicated, the term "HIV" refers primarily to HIV-1, since it is the most prevalent. In Africa, Type 2 is the most common.

What causes AIDS AIDS is the final stage of caused by infection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). When HIV attacks and destroys the immune system cells that fight disease and leaves the body defenseless against infections and cancer.has severely damaged the immune system, AIDS appears, and the body is defenseless, so the risk of acquire diseases and certain cancers increases.

How HIV is transmitted This virus is passed from one person to another through sexual contact or contact with blood. In addition, pregnant women with HIV can pass the virus to their babies during pregnancy or delivery, and through breast feeding. People with HIV have what is called HIV infection. Some of these people will develop AIDS as a result of this infection.


Prevention AND Campaign in Colombia

Avoid injecting illicit drugs. If used , avoid sharing needles or syringes and always use new needles ( Boiling or cleaning them with alcohol does not guarantee that they are sterile and safe ) .

Avoid oral , vaginal or anal contact with semen of HIV-infected persons .

Avoid sexual anal intercourse without protection , since small tears in the rectal tissues could occur ,occur and through which HIV is in the semen of HIV-infected sexual partner may enter directly into the blood of another partner .

Always use condoms if you have sex with people who use injection drugs.

Campaign in Colombia an a way perhaps not solve the HIV-AIDS in Colombia or the world just create enough awareness to prevent and not to continue as before. in Colombia 4200 new cases are diagnosed each year according to the Ministry of Health. my proposal from the audiovisual medium is to create a campaign together the health ministry and government in general day to day is promoted in the media using elements such as: TV commercials posters Free HIV tests visits to schools, universities and schools more monthly prevensi贸n from hospitals and health posts and more...
