the powder room. The goal for these clients is to maintain the same structure of the building with little or no walls being torn down. The ultimate challenge is working around existing objects of the area and Bernal Height’s weather conditions.

The Master Bedroom has the best natural lighting in the house where it emitts from the NorthEast and North-West blocking the summer heat while gaining a good view of the winter sun set.

Here is the relaxing Lounge area with a clear view of the street. Right behind the seating area, the Radiant Thermal wall stands in order to insulate the heat’s summer sun from entering the Master bedroom behind it.

Nourish cafe, branched from the founder Mary Jane Marcus’s Global Commons. She envisions a community affecting social exchange locally and globally. Nourish Cafe is intended to be an international coffee and tea house bringing in different cultures to inspire one

another through dialogue, education, and community based on old fashion values. This project is designed in a green and organic composition with a cozy Bohemian warmth. Faces of happy women from all over the world are represented through paintings on

Located in Fremont California, this newly constructed residence is in need of a backyard remodel. Consisting of about 500 square foot in lot, it is inspired by the Japanese gardens with its use of bamboo, cherry and blossom trees. The complete

upgrade for the design had no budget in mind other than creating this amazing environment for this elder couple. The backyard is separated into three sections consisting of the pool area, vegetable garden and entertainment area. The entire idea

for this backyard remodel was in order to display the client’s cultural background of the Japanese gardens. Known for its amazing bonsy trees, the Japanese garden incorporates this zen like feeling in order to achieve bliss.

The beach’s of Central California (Pismo) inspired the concept of this project. The assignment was to design a retail store that also serves the “typical San Francisco lot” measuring up to a 2,500 square foot space with 30-foot ceilings. I wanted to create a unique surf shop that differs

from all the ordianry shops with a modern feel, using sleek lines and organic shapes that remind us of the beach. As you walk into the shop the first thing that strikes you are the two column palm trees decorated with rope lighting and this large open space. A majority of the shop is repre-

sented in the shape of a surfboard, (the ceiling light fixture and the chashier table) while different shades of aqua/blue are used as the color scheme. The entire idea is to create this beach theme with the use of different textures as waves and sand in different forms.

The surfboards are displayed like an art gallery where light is shining above them. The wave like figures are where swim suits are hung, while the shelves between them are displays of sandals and other accessories.

To the right is the interior perspectives from the entrance’s view where it’s separated into two levels; first level is dedicated to all of the clothing and accessories while the second level is a gallery display of surfboards from different brands. The intention was to design a high-end retail store where a minimum of products are exposed.
