PRIME TIME AT PEPPERS. Take two born and raised Culpeper guys, put them together, add some country cookin and charm and you’ve got Peppers Grill. Celebrating a 10-year anniversary this November, James Atkins and Eddie Jenkins have created a winning formula when it comes to bringing a smile to the faces of their customers. Known for their succulent prime rib dinners, you can get fried oysters or catfish or ham patties just as tasty. The co-owners like the fact that they can be their own bosses. With some 20-25 employees, you’ll often see one or both of them welcoming their regular customers as well as greeting new ones. While the restaurant business has its challenges, Peppers Grill is a Culpeper mainstay and you won’t be in the county long before you’ll walk through their doors to sample their breakfast or lunch buffet or perhaps cater your next event. Their lounge area features live music alongside a bar offering craft beers and Virginia wines and liquors. Is that moonshiner Tim Smith walking in? Smith is a regular customer when he is in town. Nearby Belmont Distillery is home to his Climax and Fire Chief 32 moonshine. James Atkins chuckles. “He arrived one day in a helicopter...yes...there’s room for it to land... with a group of 16 for dinner.” With decades of cooking experience, Chef Mike Tylar hails from the Bavarian Chef in Madison County. Coming into the Peppers kitchen two years ago, Tylar has added his own flair to the many dishes, soups and desserts offered. In addition to the main dining area, Peppers has room to host your conference or meeting group. Teachers find Peppers a favorite place and recently several LuLaroe consultants held an event there combining fashion and food. If you enjoy eating out on special holidays like Mother’s Day, Easter or Thanksgiving, plan on bringing the family to Peppers. Atkins and Jenkins have created a cozy and casual place to dine with pleasant surroundings and great comfort food. Pictured (l-r) co-owners Eddie Jenkins and James Atkins.
