Built in 2005, as part of the redevelopment of the Grade II listed Electric Press printing works, The Carriageworks provides a stunning backdrop with a sympathetic meeting of old and new architecture. Located on the first floor, this modern venue overlooks an historic glass-roofed and heated courtyard which in early Victorian times was home to the West Riding Carriage Manufactory, from which it takes its name. Today the theatre showcases the best national and international touring productions and has quickly established itself as a key entertainment destination. It also provides an important performance space for local performing groups and companies. With its large auditorium and six meeting rooms, the Carriageworks offers an inspiring venue for a wide range of events including conferences, presentations and training events with high quality facilities and spectacular scenic views of Millennium square and Mandela Gardens. It is equipped with extensive theatre lighting, a full public address system, a data projection facility, cinema size screen, technical support and an infra red induction loop system. This is an ideal room for conferences and presentations whilst the neighbouring meeting rooms offer comfortable spacious break-out areas.

Meeting rooms Three of the rooms are situated in the historic part of the old Carriageworks development and feature exposed brickwork and roof beams in keeping with the Victorian architecture, whilst providing a light and airy studio feel. All the rooms provide audio visual control units incorporating LCD projector, amp, computer, wireless keyboard and mouse, air conditioning, flipcharts, water coolers and support from Carriageworks staff, ensuring a high standard of customer service. Millennium Room With comfortable seating and floor to ceiling windows along two sides presenting panoramic views of Millennium Square, the Millennium Room located on the first floor, provides a scenic setting for meetings, registrations, refreshments or drinks receptions. Catering Catering is available from teas and coffees to canapés and finger buffet lunches, which can be tailored to your needs and enjoyed in the second floor bar or Millennium Room.
