They’re the best way to meet new (and like-minded) people, try new things and have fun – but with over 300 groups you might be wondering how to go about choosing between them. Freshers’ Fair Timetable Monday 19th September

What's on in Your Union You can find the entire Freshers’ events line-up on the reverse, but here we’ve gathered the highlights of term one to give you a taste of what’s in store over the next few months.

Fruity 10th Birthday

Friday 23rd September Join us as we celebrate the 10th birthday of the biggest student night in Leeds. Known as much for its music as its themed parties, guest appearances and freebie giveaways, Fruity is the biggest student night in Leeds. Join us as we celebrate its 10th birthday with a huge Union takeover across all our venues and the Refectory. Join us for Fruity every Friday, tickets for Fruity throughout term one are on sale. Across the Union, 10.30pm to 3.30am

Friday 16th, Sunday 18th, Thursday 22nd, Friday 23rd September Leeds is home to one of the best markets in the country – come along to discover this hidden gem and find out more about the city centre on your way. Leeds Kirkgate is a great place to find food and household items at great prices, and is also home to the fortnightly local farmers’ market. Meet at the Union Helpdesk at 12.00 noon, free

Thursday 22nd September The UK’s biggest and best silent disco returns to Leeds for a night of strangely entertaining fun. With two different channels to choose from, there’s double the chance you’ll be hearing tune after tune! Stylus and Pulse, Union building, 10.30pm to 3.00am, £5 adv

Wednesday 5th October Leeds Varsity puts the University of Leeds head to head with Leeds Met University in over 50 sports fixtures in one day. Only one side can emerge victorious, so Leeds need your support! From rugby to waterpolo, there are opportunities to watch and cheer on throughout the day. Varsity Fruity after the Rugby match

Saturday 8th October The Swedish store has won a hard-earned place in the hearts of many students for great items that make furnishing a new home easy and affordable. From plates and bowls, to lamps and rugs, Ikea has it. Meet at the Parkinson building steps, 11.00am to 5.30pm, £6.50

As the listings show, there’s no such thing as a ‘typical’ Leeds University Union event. We host everything from 5,000 capacity multi-venue nights with the biggest names through to more personal events aimed at connecting people with common interests. You can find the full event calendar for term one on the website. We’ll keep adding to it as events are confirmed.

Thursday 22nd September We’re a charity here to help you and 32,000 other students love their time at Leeds. Advertising helps us to achieve this aim, because just like the money we take in our shops bars and clubs, all proceeds are reinvested into services like the student advice centre, over 300 activity groups, volunteering opportunities and academic support.

Intro Party and Freshers’ Ball Intro Party, Monday 19th September, Union building, 8.00pm to 2.00am, £10 adv Freshers’ Ball, Saturday 1st October, Union building, 9.00pm to 3.00am, £17 adv Get yourself a joint ticket to guarantee entry to two of the term’s hottest events. The Intro Party gets Freshers’ Week into full swing with a line-up including Gareth Gates, S Club 3 and Mat Horne. The Freshers’ Ball comes a fortnight later, taking over every space in the building to bring Professor Green, Rizzle Kicks and James Buckley (aka Jay from the Inbetweeners). Joint tickets are £25.
