SUICIDE By: LeeAnna Montanez

How could someone do this to themselves? What makes them do this? Why would they go through with it? We all ask ourselves these questions when we hear or see something about someone committing suicide. But what are the real reasons for suicide, not just that self-harming and depression which lead to it? Depression is a mental condition that is caused for many reasons such as isolation, bullying, and grief. Over 50% people who are depressed end up committing suicide. Depression is mostly seen in women than men. 21% of women and 12% of men will experience depression through life at one point. People who are depressed are really good at hiding how they are really feeling. They smile and say they are fine, but really inside them, they are hurting. Many people that are depressed are not open about their feelings, people just leave it alone after they say they are fine. Many people ignore it when they see people who are sad, mad or even both. When people just ignore it, it seems to them like they are not

important. When they start to feel like they don’t matter they start getting all these thoughts and questions. They start asking themselves…..“ Why am I even here?” “What’s even the point?” “ How can I make it stop?” “Should I just end it now?” These are thoughts that should never cross a person's mind. Imagine feeling empty inside. Feeling like you don’t matter to anyone. Feeling unwanted by others, and having all these thoughts running through your head. What would you do to make it all stop? Would you just ignore it? Would you fight through it? Or would you just end it? Kids, teenagers, and even adults commit suicide because they can’t do it anymore. They don’t have the love and support that they need. All they have been doing is holding it in for so long that they are ready to just give it all up. They feel as is it’s the solution for their problems, but it’s not they can get help and get better they just need o know that they have that option. Yes, many people have died from committing suicide,

but also many have been saved from coming to that point. If you ever see someone hurting don't just ignore it. Be the person that helps them get better. If you see someone crying get them to open up their feelings, so they won't

keep it all inside. We don't want to lose any more people to committing suicide. I´m not saying we can stop all of it, but we can decrease the number of people taking their life. Everyone needs a little help. Be the person who can save someone's life.
