2011 at LedgeRock! By PGA General Manager Pete Kowalinski It’s hard to believe this is my 8th season at LedgeRock! I know that’s a very ordinary opening to a spring newsletter, but it really boggles the mind how fast things can go but also feel like they take a lifetime to complete. So without reminiscing about the last 8 years, I though I would give everyone a snapshot into where we are going and the upcoming 2011 season at LedegRock. Brady and Kyle are making a return to the golf shop and should be in full swing as you are reading this newsletter. Brady and I were certified through the Titleist Performance Institute late this winter and are excited to offer a complete golf instruction, fitness, and health experience to you starting in April. Once again, the board is committed to keeping the staff trained in the cutting edge instruction and technology so we can be the most comprehensive golf instruction experience. Kyle, a.k.a. our blog master, is excited about running our revamped tournament program and keeping us all entertained with his updates and blogs. Let’s see if he can reuse the word “re-dunk-ulous” in 2011. Rich Ruscitto also has made his return to the post of Director of Outside Services in March on his journey to becoming a PGA Member. You will see more familiar faces when you arrive in the lot to begin your LedgeRock experience, but stay tuned for a new welcoming policy and procedure that will be the talk of your guests. Look for John King becoming more of a regular presence in the locker room in April. John does a great job keeping our members looking good and also updating you on the Phillies box score. Go Yankees! Our food and beverage department also has gone through some change. With the addition of new service staff, new Food Service manager Chelsea Stoltzfus, and the return of Chef Tyler Misko, we are stepping up our game in the dining room and other food service areas. I know that you will find Chelsea ever present to give you an exceptional dining experience, and most importantly, a smile, and Tyler has found his rhythm in the kitchen with almost a full year under his belt at LedgeRock! Organizing and keeping our standards at the highest level in the food and the service department is Erin Signor. Starting her 5th season at LedgeRock, Erin is excited with our new staffing additions and has developed an intensive new service training program. Again, we are all about stepping up our game and Erin is great at exceeding expectations. She also worked with Chef Tyler on an incredible new lunch menu for the season. Some of my favorites are the Kobe “Rock” Burger, the Roasted Pork Sandwich…order it wet and sharp…Philly style…, and the popular LedgeRock Salad. We wanted our Chefs out and interacting with you and your guests as well so look for more outside grilling this year. Everything has been planned and will be done to exceed your expectations. Alan and his crew have been working hard prepping the equipment and reconditioning all of the course supplies such as tee markers and practice range bag stands. His full crew will be making their return late in March to start cleaning up debris and starting the dreaded aerification process, a necessary inconvenience but one that Alan always tackles with little or no disturbance to our member’s utilization of the course. Let’s all pray for a somewhat “normal” weather year so Alan and his crew have little worry about the health of the turf and can focus on the conditioning. Your faithful and ever present PGA General Manager will also be returning as mentioned above. I can honestly say that I am thoroughly enjoying life with my wife Carin who has put up with me for the past 20 years, 14 of them married so she hasn’t had a choice, and our awesome boys, Eddie – 5, Andrew – 3, and Thomas – 3. It’s hard to believe that Eddie will be starting kindergarten and Andrew and Tommy pre-school this fall. They are already swinging golf clubs and really love coming out to LedgeRock as a treat. Eddie is even saying that he wants to be a golf pro just like Daddy so…hello world! I am really excited about 2011. Our returning employee family members are self-motivated and are as excited as I am to start the season and deliver on the Founders promise. Please do not hesitate to contact me in any way this year if you have any questions, comments, or feedback. We love hearing what you think about your experiences at your club so we can keep the great things going and improve on the good things. Wishing you and your family a great 2011, Pete

Spring Fever! By Director of Member Services, Erin Signor Greetings LedgeRock members! It’s that time of year again! So close to the golf season, yet so far away! March is so hit or miss with weather these days…...rain, snow, sleet, 65 degree days, REPEAT! At least it is nice to hear the birds chirping and having the snow melted is always a plus. Even though it was a long and cold winter, we were busy preparing for the upcoming golf season tournaments and special events to make an even bigger and better impression for 2011! The food and beverage department was very active in January and most of February in hosting, catering, and running weekly dinner events for our members and their guests. Our Reading Symphony Orchestra nights with dinner at LedgeRock have been a success and we look forward to our next dinner and symphony on 4/16. Make your reservation early! We are excited to announce our new Food Service Manager, Chelsea Stoltzfus, to our special events/catering team. Chelsea is eager to take on the responsibility to bring our service to another level this year. She is very enthusiastic and excited to meet the members. Chelsea starts the middle of March, so if you have any questions regarding a meal or how your experience was, or just to introduce yourself, feel free to email her directly at Chelsea@ledgerockgolf.com . Jourdan Rentschler will be back as well in addition to her sister, Savannah once school is out! We are also excited to introduce Tyler’s sous chef, Alex Krommes. She is a recent graduate of the Pennsylvania Culinary Arts School. She lives locally and is our new chef for breakfast at the lodge, in addition to assisting Tyler at the Learning Center. We are really lucky to have her on board. We have finalized our 2011 Tournaments and Events Calendar and it is now available on our website as well. You can sign up directly through our website for your convenience. If you have not signed up for a new username and password last year, feel free to email me and I can send you a link with directions how to get you signed up for events! We are also looking forward to some different food stations for our monthly member guests. Instead of having a filling lunch before tee off, we are going to implement a “snack station” with unique offerings and a filling dinner after the tournament instead of hors’deourves. We want our golfers to work up an appetite while out on the course! Don’t forget to visit our social networks through the club: Like our facebook page and follow our twitter page for detailed and updated information. We are looking forward to seeing all of our members out utilizing the club and hopefully improving their golf games! Cheers to a great golf season and another prosperous golf year.

Regards, Erin

it in this month’s newsletter. Honey Lime vinaigrette 3 cup Champagne Vinegar 1 Cup Rosie’s Lime Juice 1 Cup Honey.   Blend all ingredients together with a  wire whip. Check taste.  The meas‐ urements I provided are estimates, it  is all about taste.  There are many  factors in which honey you use, as  well as the champagne vinegar.  My  amounts will give you a base. That  way you can season it to your tastes. Titleist TPI at LedgeRock Golf

The Titleist Performance Institute was the brain child of Dr. Greg Rose and Golf Professional Dave Phillips. The TPI philosophy was born out of the experiences of Mr. Phillips after observing that several students whom he was teaching had the exact same swing faults, but after extensive instruction and practice, half would get better and half would get worse. Bringing these experiences to Dr. Rose and after years of research, they found that his student’s physical limitations were preventing them from having the potential of improving their swing. Worse yet, he surmised that he was also increasing his student’s risk of injury by not addressing their physical limitations with what he was trying to train their body to do. So after bringing the idea to Titleist CEO Wally Uhlein, the Titleist Performance Institute was created. The funny part of the story as told to us by Mr. Phillips was that Mr. Uhlein saw this as an opportunity to keep more people golfing longer if they were healthy and injury free, and with the typical golfer losing an average 6 golf balls per round, this would ultimately increase Titleist’s golf ball sales. There’s an angle in business for everything I guess. So after some major research, TPI developed their Philosophy of the Human Body: Mobility/Stability Alternating Pattern which was first noted by Mike Boyle and Gray Cook; “The body works in an alternating pattern of stable segments connected by mobile joints. If this pattern is altered – dysfunction and compensation will occur.” Sounds simple enough, but it is one of the most logical theories that I have ever been schooled about in golf. We have always seen obvious physical limitations in our students and have improved their swings by getting around these limitations, but it’s the inconspicuous limitations that can cause severe dysfunction and compensation if they are not identified. So through a physical screening, which takes 7 minutes, we can almost 100% identify what swing flaws each student may have before even viewing their swing. After a swing assessment, we then put all of this data into the My Pro TPI website where it will track the students progress after each assessment and also develop a customized workout for those who do not wish to work with a trainer or belong to a gym. We always recommend as the 1st and preferred option that you work with someone from our fitness team but understand that some people do not have the access necessary. The workouts are golf specific so we do not cross the line of trying to fitness train our students. If there is a more serious limitation, then we recommend seeing one of our medical team members to address a medical issue that may be inhibiting your swing and ultimate enjoyment. After these short assessments and some practice we can build the potential needed to improve and enjoy golf pain free. There are a million ways to swing a golf club and not one swing theory is right for everyone. If we can identify your physical limitations, we can try to overcome them and also find a swing that works for you so you can enjoy this game for a long time, injury free, and keep losing those 6 Titleist golf balls every round. Please visit www.mytpi.com or meet with your two TPI Certified PGA Professionals. Wishing you fairways and greens in 2011!

This is an exclusive service for our members and their guests to utilize two TPI Certified PGA Professionals in their quest for better golf and fitness. “Golf has reached a point where its participants do not need convincing that better fitness and health improves the swing. Today’s golfers need to be convinced that their instructors know what needs to be done.” - TPI Instructor Manual LedgeRock now has two instructors who will be very convincing to those who are serious about improving their golf swing, staying fit, and playing injury free golf for a long time. More information can be found on www.mytpi.com or better yet, ask one of LedegRock’s TPI Certified PGA Professionals.

Greetings from the Golf Shop PGA Assistant Golf Professional, Brady Foore

Once again we’re on the doorstep of another golf season. Last summer was hot, the winter was long and cold, so we’re due for a picture-perfect season of exciting tournament golf. We’ve made a few minor adjustments and additions to this year’s schedule, which we hope will add to the overall LedgeRock experience. The newest additions to this year’s line-up are a weekly Men’s League and bi-weekly Chix 4 Six. Men’s League will be held weekly, on Thursday evenings, throughout the summer. We’re looking forward to promoting camaraderie, competition, and a little bit of fun to our summer season. For the ladies, we’ve added a Chix 4 Six event - also on Thursday evenings - as a way for the ladies to meet in a non-competitive and relaxed environment. This is a great way to build new friendships and share some relaxing evenings at the course. For our annual tournaments, we’ve made a few adjustments to highlight some of our “majors” into a celebration week. Specifically, the Ladies Founders Cup and Men’s Founders Cup will now be held during the same week: Ladies on May 18th; Men on May 20th and 21st. New for 2011, we will now have a Club Championship Week with the ladies playing on June 22nd (Wednesday), juniors on June 23rd (Thursday), and men playing over the weekend – June 24th and 25th (Saturday and Sunday). Please see the overall tournament schedule on the website for more details. We’re always looking for new ways to “treat” our members and guests at LedgeRock. Look for some added features to our monthly Member-Guest events as a way to show our appreciation for your support. If you have any questions about our golf events, please don’t hesitate to call the golf shop. We look forward to a great tournament season and hope to see you at the course Cheers, The Professional Staff

Congratulations to W. Bradford White, Jr on a hole in one at Pinehurst #8 ( Hole # 5). He used a 9 iron on this 138 yard hole. Way to go!

New for the Season– Mizuno Shaft Optimizer By Kyle Miller, PGA Assistant Golf Professional If you have not yet heard, the  golf shop has received the Mi‐ zuno Shaft Optimization Fitting  Cart. Everyone knows that using  the correct weighted shaft is  very important to hitting the  ball farther and with more con‐ trol. With this new technology, the fitting procedure is as  simple as ever. Just step up to the ball with the shaft opti‐ mizer set to “go,” swing, and we will type the results right  into the computer. Then we hit “submit” and the best  shaft for you to use appears right on the screen.   The best part of this is that you do not have to feel  obligated to Mizuno clubs once you are fit. Discovering  the perfect shaft through this fitting routine can work  even if you are dead‐set on buying a set of Titleist irons.  However, if you would like to try out the Mizuno line of  irons, the shaft optimization procedure can be followed  by a loft and lie fitting assessment and, of course, testing  different irons.   All of this valuable information can be yours in a matter of ten minutes. Brady, Pete,  and I are ready to help out you and your game. So the question is: are you ready to get fit?    Kyle
