HISTORY/MISSION Beginning as a highly-collectible and highly-designed reference book, LE BOOK was a limited edition guide to the creative community in Paris. Invented by Veronique Kolasa in 1982, as a private resource for her best creative friends, LE BOOK quickly became “The Bible of the Image Industries.” As the international reference for information and inspiration in the luxury space, LE BOOK has built a significant network of creatives at brands and advertising agencies, all involved in marketing, image-making, and media buying. Over the past three decades, LE BOOK has curated the best in image-making and creative services, gaining respect from creative opinion leaders & decision makers all over the world. The first edition of LE BOOK New York was released in 1995, in 1999 LE BOOK London, and LE BOOK Berlin in 2009 for Germany and Eastern Europe. LE BOOK West Coast was launched to much demand in 2010. Like the Paris and New York editions, London, Berlin and West Coast provided comprehensive listings for all photography, film, video production and event-related services. The world of luxury, fashion and beauty is small and tightly-knit. How do they all know each other? What’s their secret network? LE BOOK, of course. With an unparalleled global presence, LE BOOK has become the international key to the production world—a portal to more than 50,000 creative professionals. The most famed photographers, art directors, stylists and model agencies; the most lauded producers, location finders, photo labs, rental studios, event spaces and caterers; the pre-eminent record labels,

magazines, advertising agencies, fashion designers and PR firms can all be found in LE BOOK. In short, LE BOOK is a must for everything and everyone that propels the creative industry. Showcasing thousands of images, LE BOOK is a virtual ‘who’s who’ of contemporary talent, including work by A-list photographers such as Juergen Teller, Philip-Lorca DiCorcia, Richard Burbridge, Paolo Roversi, Norbert Schoerner, Stephane Sednaoui, Sølve Sundsbø, Terry Richardson, Michael Thompson, and Michel Comte; conceptor/copywriter Ameena Meer; and art directors such as Lee Swillingham, Steven Baillie, Martin Jacobs, Michel Mallard, Daren Ellis, Donald Schneider, Marc Ascoli, Fabien Baron, and Giovanni Russo. Each LE BOOK directory is designed by a well-known art director in the market and the photographic images and illustrations that grace its covers and box are the work of superstars in the industry. The work and names inside are also tightly edited to include only the best and brightest talent. LE BOOK now publishes their desirable directories annually in Europe and the U.S. Each directory has two volumes, comprising photography, illustration, art direction, digital, magazines, production, post-production, hair and makeup artists, stylists, video and fashion.

But the physical book is just the tip of the iceberg. LE BOOK’s IRL networking events, CONNECTIONS, held in seven key locations, attract advertising agencies, brands, as well as world-renowned and emerging photographers, illustrators, writers, filmmakers, stylists and make-up artists. The goal is a living, breathing pulse of what’s new and brilliant in the world of trendsetting image-making. LE BOOK also produces workshops and conferences with partner media—from The New York Times to Nowness, and from Vogue to Wired, presenting industry panelists from Google, Balenciaga, Nike, Chanel, and more, discussing industry trends and valuable case studies for a targeted audience. For the last 30 years in print, and since 2007 via our event CONNECTIONS, LE BOOK has become the biggest and most influential network of creative decision makers. Our CONNECTIONS shows and our website allow us to identify them, whether they are part of an advertising agency or a brand. LE BOOK has undoubtedly established itself as THE essential reference for communication in the creative industry.

PRINT QU’EST QUE C’EST LE BOOK? LE BOOK publishes their desirable directories annually in Europe and the U.S., with more than 50,000 contacts, 1,000 pictures and illustrations. Each directory has two volumes, comprising photography, illustration, art direction, digital, magazines, production, post-production, hair & make-up, stylists, video and fashion. More than ever, what is needed in the industry now, is the mark of quality and guarantee of professionalism that only LE BOOK can provide.

Maripol, New York 2015

Maripol, the versatile and accomplished artist behind Madonna’s “Like a Virgin”-era style, has spent her life immersing herself in New York City’s gritty, but glamorous art world. Throughout the 1970s, she spent her nights at Studio 54 and her days at Andy Warhol’s Factory, befriending Fab 5 Freddy and Kid Creole and The Coconuts. Watching the world around her, Maripol began photographing her experiences and the colorful characters she encountered, and now, over 30 years later, her constant companion is her still her Polaroid camera. Her myriad of pictures, intriguing and seductive, have been edited and published in three art books to date. LE BOOK is privileged to showcase Maripol’s work and her many iconic subjects, curated by Diplo.

Diplo is, without a doubt, one of the most dynamic and influential forces in the music industry today. After multiple Grammy nominations and high-profile collaborations, with artists like Madonna, Pharrell, Usher, Justin Bieber, and more, he has proven himself to be an international brand, a cultural figure and a true artist. In presenting the influential and renowned imagery of Maripol, LE BOOK 2015 will once again prove to be the annual “collector’s piece,” inspiring tens of thousands of creative industry professionals around the world.
