DECISIVENESS Objectives There are two types of interviews; traditional and competency based. Most of us have only experienced the first, however in the last 3 years these types of interviews have become more popular with HR managers. What’s the difference between the two types? Traditional interview structures usually involve an HR manager asking a series of general questions with the objective of finding out whether your skill base and educational background match with the companies requirements. They are easier to prepare for and can consist of very basic questions that do not necessarily require you to provide examples. CBI interviews require you to justify your experience and demonstrate how your educational background and experience is suited to the position applied for. Key areas of questioning are in personnel, interpersonal, motivation, decision making and people skills. The objective of this lesson plan is to help you to demonstrate your abilities with examples of situations, to develop sentence constructions, increase vocabulary and confidence.
