PROJECT ONE NESILC LOGO
For project one the goal was to design a logo for Nebraska Statewide Independent Living Council. The logo would be submitted to their contest and if selected, would be used online, in print, and on their merchandise. The logo needed to be black & white and able to be resized for various uses.
02
RESEARCH Approaching this project I didn’t know anything about NESILC. From my research I found that NESILC was a non-profit organization that promotes independent living for persons with disabilities. NESILC believes in the integration and inclusion of disabled persons.

FINAL MY FINAL LOGO DESIGN ENDED UP BEING REALLY ORGANIC WITH VARIOUS MEANINGS. FROM THE HORIZONTAL VIEW, THE LOGO IS THE SKY, LAND, AND SUN. ANOTHER WAY TO LOOK AT IT IS A HOME; THE ROOF, A PORTION OF THE HOUSE, AND THE LAWN IN FRONT WITH A SUN BEHIND. BUT THE LAST AND MY FAVORITE MEANING, IS THE VERTICAL VIEW. WHEN TURNED UPRIGHT, THE LOGO IS ACTUALLY A MODERN HANDICAP SYMBOL.

PROJECT TWO BOOK COVER
Project two’s objective was to create a book cover that could be used for Kirk Dombrowski’s book Culture Politics.
11
RESEARCH The tlingit people are located in alaska, british columbia, and the yukon. They are known as the people of the tides. what interested me about the tlingit people was the intricate button blankets that they made; these blankets usually given to one another as a sign of trust. dombrowski’s book would talk about the tlinglit that converted to christianity.
12
SKETCHES Sketchwise i drew anything that seemed to be associated with the tlingit people: blankets, totems, or overall tlingit designs.
13
14
FINAL My final design stepped away from the sketches i had created. i decided to use a photo i had found of a tlingit couple and create a mixed media work; i gave the picture a lineart/handdrawn effect by tracing what i felt were the vital points of the picture, and then greyscaled everything.

PROJECT THREE DESIGN HISTORY
for project three we were given a period in graphic design history to research and then create a presentation and poster on. My period was Pop & Protest: the psychedelic 60s.
16
RESEARCH The Psychedelic movement was all about intense colors, a trippy feel, and rebelion. it featured hand drawn type and curvilinear lines. popular as well during this time were pop art and op art. I wanted to make sure i kept my designs as true to the times as possible

PROJECT FOUR MAGAZINE
THE OBJECTIVE FOR PROJECT FOR WAS TO DESIGN A MAGAZINE cover and two spreads.
19
RESEARCH For this project i looked at a variety of Onee Gyaru magazines: from egg to soul sister to vivi to jelly. What I gathered from these magazines was high text content, a sense of horror vacui, and colored callouts.

ITERATIONS ENTRE NOUS Q:Can you tell us a little about yourself. A: Sure. My name is Sayoko Ozaki obviously, but many of my family members and friends know me as Osayo. I was born on December 20th, 1989 in Sanmu, Chiba, Japan. I moved to Tokyo at the age of 17 to pursue my love of Gyaru and to try and become a model. I have one pet, a cute shiba inu named Mochiko. I love horror movies!

Q: What’s it like being the face of various Gyaru magazines?
THE
HOTTEST
STYLES THIS SEASON
A: It’s amazing really, when I was younger I never would have expected that’d I would have the oppurtunity to do things like this- it really is a lot of fun.
Q: What got you into Gyaru? A: I tended to read a lot of gyaru magazines as a teenager- Egg, Blenda, Happie Nuts, Soul Sister to name a few. I picked up my styles from there- and trust me I went through a TON of substyles. I finally found what worked best for me and I ran with it.
Q: What is your style? A: I’m more Onee than any other substyle of Gyaru. But again I’ve tried quiet a few of the substyles.
1. Bomber Jackets 2. Bright Colors 3. Uggs 4. Fur Earmuffs 5. Turtle Necks 6. Ugly Sweaters
Q: What’s a substyle that you haven’t tried before that you would like to? A: Probably Fairy Kei or Pastel Goth! Fairy Kei is very bright and colorful with youthful designs whereas Pastel Goth is more muted but dark. Unfortunately I think I’m getting too old to try those styles!
Q: Any tips for our readers? A: BE YOURSELF! Don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can’t do in Gyaru. There are a lot of bullies within the world of Gyaru- they are women who don’t want to see their peers grow. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Never regret any choices you’ve made. Be happy with yourself- it doesn’t matter what others think as long as you are confident in what you do. Shine, and maybe someday I’ll be doing a photoshoot with one of you! FINAL FOR THE FINAL DESIGN I SCRAPPED EVERYTHING I HAD WORKED WITH AND COMPLETELY RECREATED THE DESIGN. THIS TIME AROUND I DECIDED TO REVAMP A PRE-EXISTING MAGAZINE- BLENDA. THIS TIME I WORKED ON COLORED CALLOUTS, HORROR VACUI, HIGH TEXT CONTENT, AND AN OVERALL FEEL OF HIGH FASHION MEETS STREET STYLE THAT ONE RECEIVES WHEN LOOKING AT ONEE GYARU FASHION STYLE.
