From the District Governor

From the District Secretary

Dear Y’s Men, As I write these lines there is a sense of satisfaction for what our District has accomplished during the last ten months. Still the question remains, have we lived up to our motto? Did we acknowledge our duty? Were we charitable enough with our time and resources? We had excellent participation in all the programmes this year with our members giving their best in every area. This created a space for fellowship among members and kept the flock together. It is now pertinent to see if these events translated into executing community projects. This year we executed projects worth nearly Rs.20 lakh including international projects. Let us introspect to see if we, in our individual capacity, contributed proportionally. Our district has set a new standard in almost every arena. Our fellowship was among the best through various cultural programmes. Our members met, competed, collaborated and networked with each other. Every opportunity to del-

egate leadership was successfully executed. We have consciously built up a second line of leadership. I know in the days to come these new leaders will take up higher responsibilities as they have been tested and tried. All this would not have been possible without a strong and committed team. I was fortunate enough to have some of the best members in my District Cabinet and an equally competent team of Presidents and club officers. I take this opportunity to thank each one of them who have directly or indirectly extended their support to me. This is also the time to wish the new team under the leadership of Ym Mathew Kurian all the very best. We need to give him the same support you gave to me. Ysm. Louis Paulose District Govenor

Editorially Speaking We have come to the end of the Y’s year and this is the last issue of the bulletin for the current year. Owing to situations beyond control we had to skip the third issue which should have been released in February at the third Council meeting. Hence this issue contains news that cover the span of two council meetings, which is why the issue is numbered as 3 and 4. Getting news has not been easy and those who sent their pieces have been keenly following up with additional information. On behalf of the district team, let me thank all club leaders who cooperated in publishing the bulletins this year, both by way of news pages and by sponsoring its cost of production. A special word of thanks to Ym Johney John of National Press, who often had to execute last-minute jobs for us. With all good wishes, Koshy Mathew Bulletin Editor

A very hectic and eventful Y’s year for Bangalore District II is coming to an end. We had an excellent start with all active clubs installing their officebearers in time and then attending the first council and PST Training in record numbers. The first main celebration of the year was Onotsavam 2011, which was a grand success with the highest level of competitions witnessed by a full house. Sports was held at some of the best facilities in Bangalore. The badminton competition was held at the Karnataka Badminton Association courts on 1 November 2011 and the track and field events at Kanteerava Stadium on 27 November and 10 December 2011. Congratulations to Metro, Millennium, Carmalaram and Barons for finishing as the top four teams. The strong competition from young clubs like Barons, Carmalaram, Gardenia, Northwest and Silicon City was greatly encouraging. Christmas and New Year celebrations were held at the ECA Auditorium on 22 January 2012 under the able leadership of Ym K.T. Paul. In the carol-singing competition held that evening, Gardenia, Barons, Millennium and Midtown were the top four teams. Barons won the cake-decoration competition while Metro finished second. The evening was sponsored by the Arattukulam Group and we thank the generosity of Ym Tony Vincent and his company. The programme was well-organised and the credit for that surely goes to Ym K.T.Paul, the chairman of the organising committee. This year we also facilitated organising the Menettes, Youth &

Lings Nite. The Menettes, under the leadership of Ymt Leena Kurian, Ymt Seegla Louis and Ymt Sunita Tony did a sterling job and made the Nite a grand success. A TOF (Time of Fast) dinner was organised for the first time by our District and a seminar on TOF was also held that day. Area President, Ym Isaac Palathinkal was the chief guest and he gave an excellent presentation on taking up TOF projects. Our IPRD, Ym Jacob Varghese and Ymt Susan Jacob of Cantonment Club enlightened us with talks about the TOF projects their Clubs have undertaken. All the District Councils were wellattended and I thank all the clubs for the same. We had regular District Cabinet meetings and the discussions were lively and fruitful. A special thanks to my cabinet colleague. Ym Johney John, district treasurer for his support. Communications from all clubs were prompt and I thank all the secretaries for the same. Special mention should be made here about Ym Sunil Kulamackal of Millennium Club and Ym Daly Joseph of Silicon City Club. My thanks are due to the recording secretaries at the three Councils – Ym Jose Vettickal, Ym Sunny Kuruvilla and Ym Jom James for doing a good job of recording the discussions at the councils. I would also like to congratulate the chairman of Training and Communications, Ym Koshy Mathew for bringing out some excellent bulletins this year. Finally, I take this opportunity to thank our DG, Ym Louis Paulose for reposing his faith in me and giving me invaluable support throughout this Y’s year. With warm regards, Ym. Raju P.U District Secrtary.
