For this year’s Literature and Critical Theory Undergraduate Conference,
we asked students to submit work surrounding the theme of “The Voice: Resonances in Literary Studies”. We attempted to ask questions related to: What is the place and role of the voice in academic literary inquiry? How do the voices of the translator, editor, critic, reader, and student of literature intersect to create literary disciplinary discourse? What are the implications of privileging textual models of communication over the oral in our disciplines, and what could alternative approaches to the voice and orality contribute to literary inquiry?
Our 2020 journal includes eight academic papers from our conference and four works of poetry.
