LCDS Celebrates Sukkot!

On a balmy evening in Tishri, LCDS families gathered together to celebrate a festive Sukkot meal in and around our sukkah. Kudos to resident Executive Chef Peter (and his able assistant Ruby) for an exceptional repast, and to our faculty and staff who set up and served the delicious meal.

7. How many lunches per week does Chef Pete serve LCDS students?

Answer to last week’s question: Q What type of “brain surgery”did LCDS seventh grade students perform in 2009. A: Sheep brain surgery. (This year the third grade will experience a cow eye surgery demo!)

Please join us in the school lobby for the second annual Butterfly Ceremony on Friday, Oct. 16, at 9:00 am. Rabbi Gary Glickstein of Temple Beth Sholom will offer remarks and we will be adding the next set of recognition butterflies to the specially commissioned painting by Israeli Artist Alex Pauker. Prior to the ceremony, Rabbi Glickstein will join our students at Tefillah.

PA meeting on Wednesday! Our speaker, Officer G., gave an intense presentation on internet safety…got us all thinking about what our kids do online! Also, faculty member Judi Fishkin launched our book club selection: Those Who Save Us, written by Jenna Blum.  Discussion will take place at our December 2 meeting.  Next meeting: Nov. 4 with Phyllis Kahn, a nurse practitioner, specializing in nutrition and healthy eating.  Girls’ Night Out: Thurs., Oct 22 at the home of Traci Waserstein.  Got your evite?
