SUSTAINABLE L I V I N G THE DEFINITION OF SUSTAINABILITY IS “MEETING THE NEEDS OF THE PRESENT WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE ABILITY OF FUTURE”. SUSTAINABLE LIVING SEEKS TO PROVIDE BOTH AN ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE BUILDING THAT IS ALSO FINANCIALLY SUSTAINABLE FOR MORE PEOPLE. HIGH PERFORMANCE BUILDINGS DO NOT NEED TO COST MORE THAN CONVENTIONAL CONSTRUCTION. A COMBINATION OF SMART WALL ASSEMBLY AND PASSIVE SOLAR ELEMENTS ARE COMBINED TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY. WHEN CREATING AN ENVELOPE FOUR BASIC LAYERS ARE NEEDED. A WATER CONTROL LAYER, AN AIR CONTROL LAYER, A VAPOR CONTROL LAYER, AND A THERMAL CONTROL LAYER. THESE LAYERS ARE PLACED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE WALL AND ROOF STRUCTURE TO IMPROVE INSULATION AND PROTECTION. IN ADDITION, A BRISE SOLEIL IS PLACED ALONG THE WEST SIDE.
