SCHOOL BUZZ Cross Creek Ranch hosted a Back to School celebration mixer for Huggins Elementary on 8/19 and one for Shafer Elementary on 8/20. Each school came out and enjoyed some great food and great drinks. Cross Creek gave each school a Keurig Single Cup brewing system (with a variety of k-cup flavors) for their faculty lounges. Several drawings were held and teachers left with some very nice label makers, electric pencil sharpeners, Sonic gift cards, Starbucks gift cards and café coupons. Each school had over 50 staff members attend. Cross Creek Ranch loves our schools.

AMERICAN ALLIGATOR American alligators reside nearly exclusively in the freshwater rivers, lakes, swamps, and marshes of the southeastern United States, primarily Florida and Louisiana.

Photograph by Anne Keiser

American Alligator

Heavy and ungainly out of water, these reptiles are supremely well adapted swimmers. Males average 10 to 15 feet (3 to 4.6 meters) in length and can weigh 1,000 pounds (453 kg). Females grow to a maximum of about 9.8 feet (3 meters.)

Adult alligators are apex predators critical to the biodiversity of their habitat. They feed mainly on fish, turtles, snakes, and small mammals. However, they are opportunists, and a hungry gator will eat just about anything, including carrion, pets and, in rare instances, humans. Source: www.nationalgeographic.com
