2012 Law Causa Scholarship Application for Undocumented Law School Students

Law Causa is awarding Legal educational scholarships to entering 1st year Law School Students for the People’s Colllege of Law! In its first year, Law Causa hopes to award up to $2,000 in scholarships to qualified students in an effort to promote academic success, community responsibility and a commitment to social justice. Law Causa Scholarship recipients will be honored at our First Annual “Banned Books” Banquet, presented by Law Causa (TBA). In order to receive the scholarship, recipients must attend the mandatory ceremony. I. GENERAL CRITERIA: Demonstrate leadership in extra-curricular activities; commitment to improving the conditions of their community; experiencing economic hardship and most importantly your involvement in your community. 1. Enrolled at The Peoples College of Law with at least a part-time schedule for the 2012-2013 school year. 2. MUST Commit to a minimum of one year to PCL and MUST take Baby Bar Examination (Must sign commitment contract) 3. Must attend total of 3 quarterly progress counseling sessions (TBD) 4. Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above 5. Submit Unofficial Transcripts and (1) Strong Letter of Recommendation 6. Submit two page double-spaced essay (See Below for Prompt) 7. Must attend our “Banned Books” Scholarship Banquet scheduled for (TBA)

III. APPLICATION PROCESS: [APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY July 27th, 2012] Please read carefully before submitting this application. To be considered for this Scholarship, applicants must complete (type or print), sign and date this application, and submit it on or before the stated deadline (postmark will determine compliance). This application and related materials must be printed and mailed in one package to the current Scholarship Committee. Incomplete applications will not be considered for award. NOTE: LAW CAUSA is not responsible for materials lost or misdirected in the mail. Please provide a self addressed stamped envelope to confirm that the Scholarship Committee has received your application. Finalists will be notified by mail and phone and must be available for an interview during July/August of 2012. Scholarship awards will be distributed in the summer of 2012, upon receipt of proof of enrollment. Checks must be collected within 30 days of being awarded or will be considered forfeit.
