LOCATION : SBI BUS TERMINUS, WARD 45, MANGALORE SITE AREA : 2.5 acres BUILT-UP AREA : 12,000sq.m

THIS PROJECT IS A SELF SUSTAINING REDEVELOPMENT MODEL FOR THE EXISTING SBI BUS TERMINUS, MANGALORE UNDER THE SMART CITY INITIATIVE. 1

IMAGEABILITY STUDY OF WARD 45

2

P.C.U. COUNT ALONG SITE BOUNDARIES

ADOPTING KEVIN LYNCH’S THEORY ON ‘IMAGEABILITY OF A CITY’, CHARACTERISTIC NODES, PATHS & LANDMARKS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED IN WARD 45.

VERY UNSAFE FOR STUDENTS AS BADRIYA SCHOOL ADJOINS THE STREET; LACK OF DROP OF ZONE ADDS TO ROAD TRAFFIC.

A SIGNIFICANT NODE DUE TO PRESENCE OF SBI OFFICE, DEFINED PEDESTRIAN PATHS FLANKED WITH EATERIES, POLICE BOOTH

PUBLIC BUILDINGS LIKE THE FORUM FIZA MALL MALL , CORPORATION BANK SERVE AS LANDMARKS. THE PRESENCE OF STREETLIGHTS, DEMARCATION BETWEEN VEHICLES & PEDESTRIAN PATHS CREATE A LEGIBLE STREET.

THE CENTER HAS BEEN DIVIDED INTO THE ADMISTRATIVE AREA, EMERGENCY TRIAGE, CLINIC & SURGICAL WARD. BAMBOO JALLI WALLS PERMIT FREE FLOW OF AIR BETWEEN WAITING AREAS & UNBUILT SPACES. DUE TO THEIR TRAUMATIC PAST, ANIMALS THAT HAVE BEEN ILL-TREATED & ABUSED TEND TO BE FRIGHTENED, WHICH CAN RESULT IN PSYCHOLOGICAL DAMAGE.
