MEMETIC WELLS // FOLKESTONE BOOK FESTIVAL

2016

This project was divided in two processes: A group installation in the bar area of the Quarterhouse Building for the Folkestone Book Festival 2016 in Folkestone and a single piece that would be part of the installation. The individual project had to be created after reading the book by H.G. Wells The time machine, from which I had to extract a fragment that evokes a spatial language.

Quarterhouse building // Project information

This literature Festival has taken place annually in Folkestone since 1980. It has an eclectic programme of events that include talks, live debate, films and theatre production. Every year, it finds new ways to engage with literature. The Quarterhouse is the host of many events during this festival, as well as signings in the bar space. The installation supports these activities and requires: • • • •

Seating area Desk (book signing) space Shelving zone for selling books Illumination through the holes that communicate with the entrance hall

The installation uses copper piping modules with ply junctions soldered together in the endings of the 30cm pipes (three in each module, see below). The areas will be designed based on the modules and will be connected with one another. This project was part of my professional education as an exchange student at the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury, England.

Team work: Seating area

DESIGN #1

We were divided into teams for developping the different areas of the installation. My team and I designed the seating area. 3D model and rendering: Rhinoceros 5 Objective: ● Allow people to face each other ● Create tables by extruding the seating boards

● The modules connect perfectly with the rest of the installation ● Very thin and elegant

DESIGN #2

● The modules connect with the rest of the installation by elbows, so the seatings are lower. ● More stable and strong.

PUBLIC TOILETS

2016

Information // Plan and sections on CAD

TEAM PROJECT The premise of which we started was to create a zone for toilets that was not completely closed, but somehow interacts with the surrounding space. Therefore, we created independent modules whose corridors form part of the exterior. To enhance this feeling, the sinks are outdoors and remain in service even though the toilet modules are closed during closing hours. This allows it to be opened for public use.

The project is located in the gardens of Turia, Valencia. The modules for the toilets are two marine containers, one for men, and another for women, and are facing and open to the outside. At night they are closed, and are connected to each other by wooden beams at the top, and a central concrete sink. Transversal to them, another module is located dedicated to: - Adapted toilet - Children’s toilet - Lactation area and baby changer

“A LES BALCONADES” FOR UBIK CAFÉ

2016

This is an ephemeral architecture project for the Ruzafa carnival 2016, in Valencia. As part of a team we made two lamps for a coffee-library which is placed in Ruzafa, Valencia. These lamps represent the angel and the demon, according to the history of the carnival of Valencia. We chose the letter U after the name of the coffee “UBIK CAFÉ”.

WINDOW DISPLAY FOR “CLOT VINTAGE” INTRAMURS

2015

I have colaborated in the Intramurs Festival of Arts that takes place every year in Valencia, by creating a window display. The store that I chose is called “Clot Vintage, which is located in the historic centre of Valencia.

The project was inspired by Roy Lichtenstein and the 60’s. This store is full of secondhand clothes and accessories from all decades, and I wanted to create an impact with the colours and the mannequin with a “floating screaming face”.

WINDOW DISPLAY MODEL FOR YVESSAINTLAURENT

2014

This project was based in choosing a product, brand or store and make a window dressing model of how people would see it on the streets. I decided to make a magic pink atmosphere for the Parisienne perfume by YvesSaintLaurent.

My inspiration was the advertisement of the product. The aim of this project was to create volume and use the space, as well as to make an impact of the product itself. I added some led lights on the back, so it looked like a dream.

“The perfume seems to be floating over the roses, while the threads represent the Eiffel Tower
