Did you know...? KING OF FACTS Researchers say that 1 week of camping, without electronics, resets our biological body clock. It synchronizes our melatonin hormones with sunrise/sunset and can help people who have trouble sleeping. The scientists argue that modern life disrupts our sleep through exposure to electric light and reduced access to sunlight. But after spending time in the great outdoors, the researchers say the body clocks of eight volunteers synchronised with sunrise and sunset.
Researchers have found that the widespread availability of electric lighting from the 1930s onwards has affected our internal circadian clocks, allowing us to stay up much later than evolution intended. The scientists in this study first analysed a small group of volunteers as they went about their normal lives, and recorded their exposure to natural and artificial light. By looking at levels of the hormone, melatonin, they concluded that the lighting of our modern environment causes around a two hour delay in circadian clocks. Melatonin rises just before we go to sleep and decreases through the night until we wake up. The study participants tended to stay up until after midnight and to wake up around eight in the morning. Their melatonin levels, however were still high for several hours after they got up, indicating they were out of synch with their natural rhythms. In tents research The scientists then took the volunteers camping for a week in Colorado. Flashlights and electronic devices were banned, the only night time light was the glow of a campfire. The result was that the waking and sleeping patterns of all eight volunteers synchronised with the rising and setting of the Sun.
New iPad Air going into PRODUCTION CURIOUS MINDS
Apple is reportedly set to begin production of its next-generation iPad Air this month with display components going into mass production in the middle of this month and components such as the processor and camera sensors going into production next month. CURIOUS MINDS
he design of the sixthgeneration full sized iPad will mimic that of the current model and the display resolution will stay at 2048 x 1536, according to a reliable source. The new iPad Air will sport a more advanced A8 processor, which sources previously noted focuses on efficiency and battery performance for the iPhone (likely for the iPad too).
Sources also say that Apple has developed a new A8 system-on-a-chip for the next iPhone that focuses on marginal speed improvements rather than core architectural changes.
The new rear-camera is expected to move from a 5 megapixel sensor to an 8 megapixel sensor (which would bring the tablet in line with the latest iPhones), and the front camera could make the jump from 1.2 megapixels to 1.5 megapixels. That’s a small jump on paper, but will likely make significant improvements in the quality of FaceTime calls and Photo Booth selfies. The iPhone still beats the iPad in the camera department with its True Tone dual-LED flash, Burst Mode, and Slow-Mo video capture mode, so perhaps Apple will also bring further parity in those areas upon launching the new Air.
While today’s report does not mention Touch ID, we’re expecting the new Air’s main selling point to be the addition of a fingerprint scanner in the Home button. As Apple launches iOS 8 with new Touch ID APIs for developers, Apple will want to spread the technology across its high-end device lineup. On the other sides of the iPad line, Apple is also working on a new iPad mini with similar upgrades as well as a larger model with splitscreen app multitasking. We’re expecting at least the new Air and Mini to hit sometime this fall, but the launch timeframe on the larger “Pro” model is not as clear.
Perhaps indicating that the new iPad Air and Mini models are hitting the marketplace sooner rather than later, the devices are already seeing some significant discounts from big name retailers.
Facts The laughter and the cocaine cause the same reactions in the brain An group of scientists of the university of Stanford, made a study with 16 volunteers in who they taught graceful drawings while they were put under a scanner of magnetic resonance. The study concluded whereupon the laughter causes the same reactions in the brain that the cocaine, an unexpected entrance of money or the contemplation of a pretty face. This investigation will help to understand better the operation of the brain and to improve the antidepressing treatments.
The exact duration of one year The exact duration of one year is 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds. For this reason, every four years we have a leap year, of 366 days. Also, to correct the inaccuracy of 365 days and a quarter, some years that should be leap are not it. The rule to know if one year is leap or not is the following one: One year is leap if it is divisible for 4, except those divisible for 100 but not for 400. Therefore, 1900 would not be leap but the 2000 would be it.
There has been much debate regarding whether or not Alexandria’s genesis exists. It seems as though this condition is the result of an urban legend since no one with this disorder appears to exist today so far as the scientific community is aware. It also seems as though this condition could exist or it may have existed in the past, leading to further speculation. Is Alexandria’s Genesis real or just fictional? What is the story behind it?
FACT OR FICTION
What Is Alexandria’s Genesis? Alexandria’s Genesis or violet eyes is considered a genetic mutation that causes the eyes to turn from blue or gray to purple for around the following six months after they have been born. During puberty the color is said to deepen to a royal or violet-blue purple and remain this dark purple way, but will not affect the person’s ability to see. Those that have this mutation are said to never grow pubic, facial, body or anal hair excluding that on the top of their head, ears, eyebrows, eyelashes and noses. Some also say that women with this condition are fertile but do not menstruate.
Additional sources say that this condition can cause a variety of symptoms including shimmering white skin that is immune to burning or tanning. Women are said to carry this mutation and it is said to affect those with black or blue hair more often. People claim that those with this mutation can live up to 130-150 years with aging stopping around 50, they do not gain weight and have a good figure no matter how much they eat, rarely digest and are immune to most diseases so they rarely become ill. This mutation is said to affect Caucasians more often but interracial children may experience this mutation if they get it from multiple genes.
What Is the Origin of Alexandria’s Genesis? The legend of this mutation began 1000 years ago in Egypt when a mysterious light flashed in the sky and everyone that went outside to see it developed pale skin and purple eyes. These individuals began to be known as spirit people who moved north and eventually disappeared. The story also notes that the first recorded instance of this disorder appearing was in England in 1329. A newborn known as Alexandria was born with purple eyes and was said to later give birth to other girls with the disorder that lived well over 100 years of age. The actual generic variant that causes this disorder was said to be discovered in the 1960s. Alexandria’s Genesis Can Be Real? Many claim that this disorder is the only way to develop purple eyes. Some say that Elizabeth Taylor have this condition, but this is often refuted by stating that her eyes and those like her are actually violet but tend to appear purple. Claims that people have Alexandria’s Genesis have existed for so long that it may be possible. There are mutations that cause children to have very short life spans where they age very quickly so it is possible that there is a condition that would cause the opposite to occur.
Not Enough Scientific Evidence It. Is possible that there is a gene variation that can cause purple eyes, lighter skin and allows people to remain healthy so they live longer, but there is not necessarily enough evidence that this specific condition exists today. The traits of Alexandria’s Genesis appear to be too widespread to be part of a single gene, which means they would have to stem from several unrelated genes. Some of the traits associated with this disorder are physiologically impossible.
There are also some races that are known for having a very high functioning immune system, so it is possible that some may possess a mutation that helps limit how often they are sick. It is also not farfetched to think of someone that has a high metabolism that does not gain weight easily or has above average eyesight.
- One could not fail to produce waste because toxins would build up in the body, causing death. -Fair skin that resists burning is also impossible because the only way to protect the skin is by the presence of melanin that makes the skin darker. -A person who was said to have Alexandria’s Genesis was supposedly said to live past the age of 150 but this is also impossible because the longest reported living person only lived to 122.

A US couple have welcomed the second of their twin sons to the world, a full 24 days after his older brother after doctors recommended the mother extend the term of her pregnancy.
A set of twins in the US were born 24 days apart after their mother went in labour only 24 weeks after falling pregnant.
When Lindalva Pinheiro da Silva's waters broke in March she feared the worst but her first baby boy Alexandre was delivered successfully and survived, albeit in intensive care unit of a Boston hospital. Doctors told the mother her remaining twin could be born in an hour, a day or within a week but the longer it stayed in the womb the better its chances of survival would be. "They said, 'The longer he stays inside, the more he will grow,'" Ms da Silva said. The 35-year-old mother recovered after the birth and was able to visit her son in intensive care, where she would sing to him. "On the second day after Alexandre was born, his umbilical cord came out," Ms da Silva said. "But they just cleaned it and put it back inside." While Alexandre grew in the ICU incubator his brother grew inside the womb until Ms da Silva started getting contractions three weeks after her first delivery. "That time made a crazy difference," Ms da Silva said. "He was born like a regular baby. He didn't need a breathing tube or anything." Three months later Ronaldo and Alexandre are both doing well, although the older brother is still a bit smaller than his sibling and may require eye surgery in the future. The proud mother calls the boys her "miracle babies". "Ronaldo because he stayed inside and Alexandre because he's a survivor," she said.
