It was 17:20 on the 23 of November 1963 when families all across the United Kingdom gathered around the television and waited for the new television show to start. Even though some people had doubts about this show, since it was about a time traveling alien, the audience was still curious to see what this strange show had to offer. The title sequence began, electronic music started playing, and the title was shown in big black and white letters. Doctor Who. Sydney Cecil Newman was a Canadian film and television producer who worked at the BBC. He was given the task of making a children's show between Grandstand and Juke Box Jury which were both very popular at the time. Sydney was a big sci-fi fan so he wanted a show that taught children something useful. He wanted the show to be about a time traveling young girl and her grandfather who was a some kind of doctor. Along with his assistants Verity Lambert and Waris Hussein they cast William Harnell as the Doctor. They had low budget and a small studio to film in but despite that the show was a big hit. An Unearthly Child was the name of the first story of the first season. After that the Daleks first appeared. The Daleks are a mutated alien race who live all their lives inside a metal armor and are determined on exterminating all other life. William Hartnell had a successful run for three years but the writers thought the show needed a new star. William had to be replaced by a younger actor. Hartnell was replaced by Patrick Troughton who was later replaced with Jon Pertwee. The replacements were explained as regenerations. The Doctor would have a new face and new personality, but he would have the same memories.
Tom Baker was the name of the fourth doctor. Tom is probably the most popular Doctor and his character was on the show for seven years and seven seasons. He traveled across the universe with his companions, Sarah Jane Smith and a robot dog called K-9. But like all other Doctors Tom and his iconic scarf had to leave. The Doctor was then played by Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy. The Doctor had now been played by seven different actors and they all have had to deal with a lot of alien villains. The Daleks, Cybermen, Ice warriors and The Master are the most famous ones.
Even though the show had thousands of fans all over the word the views were dropping quickly so in 1989 the series were cancelled. After seven years without Doctor Who the BBC tried to reboot the series. Paul McGann played the eighth incarnation of the Doctor in a TV movie. The movie was supposed to introduce Doctor Who for a new generation but didn't it didn't quite deliver. Nine years passed and nothing happened until an all-new episode of Doctor Who starring Christopher Eccleston leaked on the internet and fans all over the world went mad with excitement. An all new series of Doctor Who started airing and it is still going strong. David Tennant took over from Eccleston and then came Matt Smith. The show has gotten more and more popular by every year that passed and right now it is one of the most popular sci-fi TV shows. And now after 50 years, 12 doctors and 33 seasons Doctor Who keeps surprising the audience.

You can adopt a goat that will be sent to Africa to a family in need of food and milk. Some of the families in Uganda are in a very bad shape. Some haven’t been properly fed in months. There are many ways to help the poor, but this sounds like one of the best ideas yet. Please adopt a goat for a family in need. Goat milk has more Calcium than cow milk. Calcium is the ingredient that makes your bone structure strong. Also cow milk can be lactose intolerant Goats have many purposes most importantly, they produce milk. Dairy products are very important to provide the necessary proteins for adults and children alike. The protein in dairy products serves to restore worn tissue. The body constantly loses tissue from the wear and tear of life. Milk is also the best way for calcium. One goat can produce up to a gallon of milk a day for 10 months a year There are a number of breeds of dairy goats. The people at at the Donate World vision have had Alpines, which are very nice, but suffer in extreme heat. And that’s why we acquired Nubians in 2013. Nubians are well able to survive in the extreme heats of Africa as well in the coldest places with only a small open shelter. Nubians are also the best goats for making cheese and butter. Go to Worldvision.org and find more out for yourself it cost 25$-300$ to donate a goat.

Harry Potter is a wizard. At eleven he received a letter that invited him to Hogwarts (School of Witchcraft and Wizardry). After living with his cruel aunt and uncle for as long as he could remember he was eager to escape. He quickly found out that he was famous in the Wizarding world as “The Boy Who Lived”. As a toddler he had survived a killing curse from the hands of Lord Voldemort, being the only one known to do so, which led to Lord Voldemort’s demise. Ten years later he was on his way back to Hogwarts where he would get into more trouble and danger than imaginable with his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The books are written by J. K. Rowling, and the first one (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone) was published in 1997, and the seventh and last book (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) was published almost exactly 10 years later, in 2007. The first book was adapted into a movie in 2001, and now the movies have finished as well, since the last one (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2) came out in 2011 (also spanning 10 years). Daniel Radcliffe portrays Harry Potter, Emma Watson portrays Hermione and Rupert Grint portrays Ron. Harry Potter fans are called Potterheads.

The Marvel Universe started with comics, but has spanned movies and TV shows as well. The newfound interest in all things Marvel most likely started with the 2008 Iron Man, although Marvel has always been noteworthy. In 2012 the Avengers opened the doors to even more fans. The Marvel movies of 2014 are Captain America: the Winter Soldier, the Amazing Spider-Man 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Happens in a dystopian country called Panem and revolves around Katniss Everdeen, an intelligent and strong sixteen year old girl. Every year the government organizes the Hunger Games, a brutal television events where children between eleven and eighteen are forces to fight and kill each other in an arena until only one remains. Each of the twelve districts sends two tributes, one girl and one boy. On the day of the reaping Katniss’ sister’s name is drawn and she immediately volunteers as tribute and goes into the Games in her stead. Going with her from District 12 is Peeta Mellark, a baker boy, and their mentor Haymitch Abernathy, an alcoholic and District 12’s only living victor. The Hunger Games was written by Suzanne Collins, and the trilogy has now been completed. The second book was called Catching Fire and the last book called Mockingjay. The first two movies are out, but the last book will be split up into two parts. Starring as Katniss Everdeen is Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson takes on the role of Peeta. Fans of the Hunger Games are called Tributes, for obvious reasons.
The show starts as Scott McCall, a sixteen year old, lacrosse obsessed, asthma patient, goes out to look for a dead body the night before school starts with his best friend Stiles Stilinski, and gets bitten by a werewolf, although he doesn’t realize it at the time. The next day he finds that he doesn’t need his inhaler and that the wolf bite has disappeared. Once he arrives at school he realizes that his hearing and sight has improved, but there are werewolf hunters in town, so he goes on a hunt for the one who bit him and the trail leads him to Derek Hale, whose family used to live in Beacon Hills but their house burned down with most of its inhabitants still inside, but now he’s back for reasons unknown. Scott McCall is interpreted by Tyler Posey and Stiles by Dylan O’Brien. The show has just finished its third seasons, which was aired in two parts.

I’m not sure you should send messages like this to the editorial team, unless you really want your messages printed, but whatever. Let’s start with replying to the first message. We, the editorial team, are not entirely sure who it is you’re referring to, but we assume it’s Bjartur. He has your number now, and if he’s interested I’m sure he’ll call. (Spoiler: he won’t call) For the second message I have to say, we have your name, number, and most likely address (I’m not admitting to anything) so you don’t have to worry about not writing your name on the first one. The four page spread on Sævar’s scooter got lost in the system, so sorry about that. Maybe next year. Again, if Bjartur suddenly becomes interested, he will call. (More spoilers: he definitely will not call) Okay, you’ve turned into Doge. We’re making progress. We’ll keep in mind that idea, although chances are we won’t use it. You see, everyone suggests an article about themselves or such, and we just don’t have enough staff to cover the whole school. On the jew part, congratulations. You have won absolutely nothing. Now you’re a full on dog (for more information on dogs, read our article Top 10 Dog Breeds, on page 4) lovely. And like I said, we’re working on that article. Maybe you should join the editorial team next year. You can have your own column about Sævar’s scooter and how annoying it is. That will be all, CLASS Editorial Team The paper was nice, especially the horoscope and the book reviews since then
I think that the paper was verry cool yes yes Haukur 8U
you get an idea for good books to read. Thank you, Haukur. We try our best. That was the intended result of having book reviews, thank you for noting that. With pleasure, CLASS Editorial Team

about a celebrity if that would be possible.
Thank you, we do try to keep it fun. I’m sorry that you thought it was boring, we tried our best. On a side note, if reading text doesn’t interest you, then I wouldn’t expect you to like the school paper. It tends to be filled with text. We’d love to have more horoscopes, but our staff is limited, although you are welcome to send in your very own horoscope for next year or, even better, join the editorial team and make something more suitable for you and people with your interests.
I’m glad you though it was “okey” and I agree with you, it would have been better had it been longer. Sadly, it was not. This issue doesn’t really have any interviews with teachers, and I’m afraid I don’t have much information on celebrity diets (thankfully for me, though)so unfortunately we won’t be able to comply with your request. Respectfully, CLASS Editorial Team

We really like the newspaper and loved readi-
My personal opinion on this year’s school paper is that it‘s very well done and I can see that the peopeople put a lot of work into it. I like that it was fascinating (the Interview with Kolbeinn Guðmundsson and also the Readers Recommended and the book review), “deep“(the Female Body Shape & Lack of Confidence) and very fun (the quizzes and the TV show survey). There were many more but those are my top favorites. It might require some work and fixment like every other paper. I also love that it was very divergent, in the way that it included the “geeky“ stuff like Doctor Who, anime and books like Divergent and The Fault in our Stars. I give it 9/10 and a big thumbs up!
ng it. We liked reading about the Yearly Festival 2013 and we also loved the interview with Kolbeinn. That was very funny :) We can't think of anything that they could do better, so just keep up the good work. Best wishes, Bríet og Agga. I liked everything and the text was amazing!
Knowning how the kids write and reading this is just inspiering. I liked the quizes also and enjoyed doing them. The kids deserve a reward for their good working. I loved what my sister Saga Karitas wrote and I almost cried. Ingibjörg Eva 8.L
Master Yi The wuju bladesman Through the ancient martial art of Wuju, Master Yi tempered his body and sharpened his mind until thought and action became one. Though he chooses to enter into violence as a last resort, the grace and speed with which he wields his blade ensures his resolution is always swift. As the last living practitioner of Wuju, Master Yi has devoted his life to finding able pupils to carry on the legacy of his lost people. Even before Yi mastered Wuju, he was considered one of the most skilled practitioners of the mystical martial art. He would soon prove his mastery when word of a massive Noxian invasion reached his remote village. Yi swept across the battlefields of Ionia, turning back the tide of Noxus's vast infantry with swift and deadly strikes, much to the embarrassment of the Noxian High Command. Recognizing the threat the Wuju disciples posed to their invasion, the Noxians chose to unleash a nightmarish chemical attack on the home of the deadly art. Those who somehow survived the poisonous concoction had their minds twisted beyond repair. Yi's home was left in ruin.
At the war's conclusion, Yi returned to the remains of his village. There he became the attack's final victim. Slain in spirit, if not in body, Yi held on to the only feeling heft within his heart, vengeance. Driven only by his desire to punish those who'd destroyed his home, Yi spent years training where no one could find him. He became a deadlier swordsman than he had ever been, but true mastery of Wuju was still not his. At the height of Yi's frustration, a monkey of unusually noble bearing interrupted his training. Standing as straight and tall as a man, the monkey watched and mimicked Yi's movements. Yi shooed the monkey away, but the agile creature took great amusement in turning Yi's own techniques against him. Gradually, Yi felt his anger fade away as he sparred with the playful animal, and when the burden of his hatred had fully lifted, he found he had caught the monkey by his tail. Yi then understood that he would never master Wuju so long as he pursued it for vengeance, and as he let go of the monkey, he also released his desire to shed his enemy's blood. Yi thanked the monkey for showing him what he'd been blind to, and was surprised when the creature actually replied. He wished to learn Yi's art of fighting. It was an odd request, but through it Yi saw his new path: the way to honor the memory of his lost people was to pass their teachings on to a new generation. "The edge of the sharpest blade is no match for the calm of the peaceful mind."
School fitness (Skólahreysti) has been around since 2005. Every year people gather to watch as the strongest of each school compete for cheese baskets. Guðmundur Karl Úlfarsson Broke two school records this year, in pull ups 45 and dips 46. This year we didn´t get any cheese baskets because of two reasons. We only managed to get fourth place in our round and it is no longer sponsored by the national dairy association Mjólkursamsalan. Now it is sponsored by Landsbankinn so this year the winners got iPads. Our best run was last year when we got fourth place in the finals. School fitness centres on inspiring kids to exercise and be fit. It’s also a lot of fun for the kids to go there and have fun. The kids that are in the competition get so much support from the other kids that it helps them keep on going and go beyond there limits.
