WRITTEN BY WILL ENO DIRECTED BY JOSH BRODRICK “We tell our little story, staring out. We come up with a beginning while knowing the end, and this is trouble. We trudge on, into winter, losing ground, looking back, trying, slipping, telling a tale of summer, a sinking feeling amid the leaving geese and slush. It’s coming, little one. Now, where’s my shoes?” A woman falls in love, a man tries to, a nurse was very pretty at one time and a doctor got stung by bees. The Flu Season by Will Eno is a light hearted absurdist play exploring all nature of relationships and how familiar and fragile they can be. I’ll be brief, we are in a sort of hospital. The time is almost winter. The lights fall…

WRITTEN BY ANGELA CARTER DIRECTED BY BOB PAVLICH Angela Carter has adapted her own dark and sensual short story into a dynamic fast paced radio play. This production will re-stage this play in the wonderful and atmospheric outdoor Moat Theatre. Rosaleen who is loved by everyone and fears nothing, travels through the dark winter forest to visit her Grandmother, ignoring the dire warnings of the old woman. Turning the old tale of Little Red Riding Hood on its head our heroine is more than capable of dealing with those she encounters on her way. The Company of Wolves with its themes of desire, dreams, sexuality and coming of age challenges the way women are represented in fairy stories. The main story encompasses other stories all of which describe vivid encounters with the wolves of the forest.

The two cousins present an A-Z of the unfortunate, shocking and often mundane deaths of 26 infants. Inspired by Edward Gorey’s picture book ‘The Gashlycrumb Tinies”, A Tribute of Sorts is kooky, hilarious and morbidly dark. The play also focuses on the awkward struggles of teen-hood, whilst skirting around unconventional love. There will be blood.

WRITTEN BY NICK PAYNE DIRECTED BY JOSHUA MCFARLAND

Can one word alter the course of your life? Through a display of vignettes, audiences see the relationship between Marianne, a quantum physicist and Roland, a beekeeper and how it unfolds across time and space, with each variation sending their relationship on an entirely new trajectory. The odds of them getting together are astronomical. But when their worlds do collide, they keep on colliding, as all the possibilities of their life together - good, bad and ugly - flicker across the stage in a series of intricately-structured snapshots, from first date to farewell. Science and romance collide in this unusual love story.

We are performing it at Darebin Parklands in 2018. Some things have changed. But many haven't. Water, and nature, still affect us. Art is a difficult path to follow, and gets confused with fame. Creatures and people are still fragile, and need care. In this production, we explore the play lives in a particular place and time. At Darebin Parklands, now.
