Hablando de nuestros países, en esta ocasión te damos algunos tips para que solicites tu ciudadanía canadiense y puedas participar en las elecciones, como hemos visto por todos lados, el primer ministro Justin Trudeau, convocó a elecciones federales anticipadas y sabemos que será la primera vez de muchos inmigrantes ciudadanos votando.

Speaking of our countries, this time we give you some tips so that you can apply for your Canadian citizenship and participate in future elections. As we have seen everywhere, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called early federal elections and we know that it will be the first time many new citizens cast their ballots.

No olvides registrarte para votar, ya somos ciudadanos y tenemos derecho a elegir el futuro del país en el que vivimos y nos da muchas oportunidades. A través de nuestras páginas te llevamos a Colombia, presentándote algunos coloridos y tranquilos pueblitos que puedes visitar en tus próximas vacaciones. La situación parece estar mejorando, sin embargo aún hay muchos locales, tiendas y negocios que no han podido recuperarse económicamente por la pandemia. Question: If I have both a work permit and a study permit at the same time while being a full-time student. Will the work experience gained during my studies be considered Canadian experience when I apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class?

Pregunta: ¿Si tengo un permiso de trabajo y de manera simultánea poseo un permiso de estudio por ser estudiante de tiempo completo, la experiencia adquirida durante mi periodo de estudios puede ser tomada en cuenta al momento de calcular la experiencia laboral para aplicar a la residencia permanente bajo el programa de Canadian Experience Class?

Answer: There are two different issues raised in our reader’s question regarding the eligibility of work experience gained while a person is both a worker and full-time student in Canada. One is the eligibility of this work towards the qualifying work experience of the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) permanent residence program. The other is whether such work will be awarded points for Canadian experience under the Express Entry system. While different legal instruments govern the CEC and Express Entry, the rule is exactly the same as it applies to the calculation of work experience in both. The answer is that any period of employment during which the foreign national was engaged in full-time study shall not be included in calculating a period of Canadian work experience.

Respuesta: La pregunta planteada por nuestro lector nos lleva a tratar dos temas, que a pesar de ser diferentes, están relacionados con la experiencia laboral adquirida por una persona que tiene estatus de estudiante de tiempo completo en Canadá. El primero de estos temas es la eligibildad de la experiencia laboral bajo el programa de residencia permanente Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Por su parte, el segundo alude a si dicho trabajo recibirá puntos por experiencia canadiense bajo el sistema de Express Entry. Aunque ambos escenarios están sujetos a instrumentos legales distintos, la regla para calcular la experiencia laboral en ambos casos es exactamente la misma. La respuesta es que no se tendrá en cuenta dentro del cálculo de experiencia laboral canadiense el periodo laborado por un extranjero que realiza estudios de tiempo completo. No obstante, si una persona se dedicó a estudios de tiempo parcial durante el tiempo que trabajó mediante un permiso de trabajo válido o una autorización de trabajo válida, puede reclamar esta experiencia laboral si tiene pensado presentar una solicitud de CEC o para obtener puntos de Express Entry. If a person, on the other hand, was engaged in part-time studies during the time that they worked under a valid work permit or valid work authorization, then they would not be limited from claiming this experience for the purpose of a CEC application or to obtain Express Entry points for Canadian work experience. Question: I am going to apply for an English as a Second Language program for 10-months at Wilfrid Laurier University. I understand that this English program does not make me eligible for a work permit after I graduate, but I am unsure whether my wife will be eligible for an open work permit while I study. I thought it would be the same eligibility rules as the Post Graduation Work Permit, but the international student advisor at my university thinks otherwise. Answer: This is an interesting question that raises some of the distinctions found in the rules that govern off-campus work, a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and the eligibility of spouses of international students for work permits. The spouse of a full-time university student should be eligible for an open spousal work permit. In this case, it does not matter that the student is pursuing an English or French as a Second Language program, as this does not impact the spouse’s work permit eligibility. What matters is that the student is a full-time student at either a public post-secondary institution (such as a college, trade/technical school or university), or a private postsecondary institution that operates under the same rules as public institutions. On the other hand, full-time international students wishing to work off-campus, or be eligible for a PGWP, not only need to be registered in one of the academic institutions listed above, but must also be enrolled in post-secondary academic, vocational or professional training program that leads to a degree, diploma or certificate. This is where the eligibility for a PGWP differs from the eligibility for a spousal work permit and it is the reason why English or French as a Second Language programs are not eligible for off-campus work or a PGWP. Pregunta: Voy a aplicar a un programa de 10 meses de Inglés como Segunda Lengua en la Universidad Wilfrid Laurier. Entiendo que este programa de inglés no me permite aplicar a un permiso de trabajo después de que me gradúe, pero no estoy seguro de que mi esposa sea elegible para un permiso de trabajo abierto mientras estudio. Creí que aplicarían las mismas reglas que para un permiso de trabajo post-graduación (Post Graduation Work Permit), pero el asesor de estudiantes internacionales de mi universidad piensa que no aplican las mismas reglas. Respuesta: Esta es una pregunta interesante que plantea algunas de las distinciones que se encuentran en las normas que regulan el trabajo fuera del campus, los permisos de trabajo post-graduación (Post Graduation Work Permit PGWP) y la elegibilidad de los cónyuges de los estudiantes internacionales para los permisos de trabajo. El cónyuge de un estudiante universitario de tiempo completo puede ser elegible para un permiso de trabajo abierto como pareja del estudiante. Lo que es realmente importante es que el estudiante estudie tiempo completo en una institución pública postsecundaria (como un college, una escuela técnica o una universidad) o en una institución privada post-secundaria que se rija por las mismas reglas que una pública. Ahora bien, los estudiantes internacionales de tiempo completo que deseen trabajar fuera del campus, o ser elegibles para un PGWP, no sólo deben estar en una de las instituciones académicas mencionadas anteriormente, sino que también deben estar inscritos en un programa post-secundario de formación académica, vocacional o profesional que conduzca a un título, diploma o certificado. Es aquí en donde la elegibilidad para un PGWP difiere de la elegibilidad para un permiso de trabajo conyugal y es la razón por la cual los programas de inglés o francés como segunda lengua no permiten que sus estudiantes sean elegibles para trabajar fuera del campus o para aplicar a un PGWP. Pero, ¿cómo lograrlo? Aquí te decimos todo lo que debes saber para que tu solicitud de ciudadanía tenga más posibilidades de ser aprobada.

Tener la residencia permanente vigente. Es importante que al momento de aplicar a la ciudadanía canadiense, verifiques tu estatus migratorio y te asegures que tu tarjeta de residente permanente siga vigente y no ha vencido, de lo contrario no podrás iniciar el trámite.

Have a valid Permanent Resident card It is important that when applying for Canadian citizenship, you verify your immigration status and make sure that your permanent resident card is still valid and has not expired, otherwise you will not be able to start the process.

Residir en Canadá al menos 3 años. Otro requisito es demostrar que has estado presente físicamente en Canadá por lo menos 3 de los 5 años anteriores a la fecha de solicitud (1,095 días de 1,825). El tiempo que hayas pasado como residente temporal también cuenta, pero se toma como medio día. Por ejemplo, si estuviste 1 año, se contará solo la mitad de ese tiempo.

Guatavita, Cundinamarca Guatavita, es un hermoso pueblo a poco más de 1 hora de Bogotá. Aquí encontrarás un pueblo de estilo colonial, de plazoletas amplias, calles empedradas, paredes blancas y techos en teja de barro, y un excelente lugar para dormir en un glamping bajo la luz de las estrellas.

Es un lugar en el que los colores blanco, verde y ocre, predominan en las calles y contrastan con su fondo natural y estilo andaluz. 1. Guatapé, Antioquia One of the most colourful towns in Colombia. You can walk through the Calle del Recuerdo and the Plazoleta de los Zócalos. On the outskirts is Piedra del Peñol, a natural wonder that has 700 steps that lead to a incredible mountain view of Colombia.

4. Guatavita, Cundinamarca Guatavita is a beautiful town just over 1 hour from Bogotá. Here you will find a colonial-style town, with wide squares, cobbled streets, white walls and clay tile roofs, and an excellent place to sleep in a glamping under the light of the stars.

2. Salento, Quindío This small town is home to natural breathtaking views, coffee farms and streets that preserve the architecture of the Antioquia colonization. You can walk along Calle Real, visit the two viewpoints of the town and Valle del Cocora.

5. Barichara, Santander This town is characterized by its calm and silence. It is a place where white, green and ochre colors predominate in the streets and contrast with its natural background and Andalusian style. You can tour the town by tuk-tuk or walk, visit the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the Park for the Arts and the old house of Aquileo Parra.

3. Mompox, Bolívar Mompox or Santa Cruz de Mompós, is located 6 hours from Cartagena. It is one of the most representative towns in Colombia of Magic Realism. It has Andalusian colonial architecture, which is characterized by its cobbled streets that make its visitors fall in love and where romance flows in every corner.

Since being a student, it was clear for De Dovitiis that he wanted to work for the benefit of the community, by creating educational opportunities for young people and thus serving families.

Matías ha contribuido en gran medida al crecimiento educativo de la comunidad, no solo mediante actividades de apoyo en el aprendizaje (tutorías gratis) sino en la creación de programas para estudiantes hispanos como Teach2Learn que ofrece becas y préstamos escolares.

De Dovitiis has contributed greatly to the educational growth of the community, not only through learning support activities (free tutoring) but also by creating programs for Hispanic students such as Teach2Learn that offers scholarships and school loans.

También ha contribuido en la creación de becas y préstamos para ingresar a la Universidad de York. Para el candidato es de vital importancia que las personas conozcan sobre los programas educativos, que estén informados acerca de las oportunidades que tienen en esta área y sobretodo que hagan uso de ellas. CONOCE A ALEXANDER NUÑEZ, LATINO-CANADIENSE Y PROMESA DE LA ACTUACIÓN

MEET ALEXANDER NUÑEZ, LATINO CANADIAN RISING STAR Alexander Nuñez es un actor y escritor canadiense de ascendencia jamaicana y chilena. Nacido y criado en Mississauga, Ontario, descubrió su amor por la actuación a la temprana edad de 10 años. Writer/Actor of Jamaican and Chilean descent, Alexander Nuñez was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario. Nuñez found his love for acting at only ten years of age. Nuñez began his acting career at the age of 17 and began studying at the Professional Actors Lab in Toronto, as well as Angela Besharah’s The Lighthouse Studio, where he continues to study today. Soon we will see Nuñez talent in the new series “Moonshine” that will premiere this 14th of September on CBC.

ntrevistamos a María Fernanda Reina, CEO de SSKG Service Canada Inc., una empresa dedicada a brindar servicios de limpieza y conserjería de alta calidad y profesional, que inició en 2020 y en la actualidad cuenta con más de 50 trabajadores que más allá de ser empleados, forman un equipo. ¿Qué significa “SSKG”? SSKG es una empresa familiar pensada y creada por y para nuestros hijos. Por lo mismo decidimos utilizar las iniciales de sus nombres para la marca de la compañía, se usó la flor de maple en representacion de mi esposo que nació en este país, el cual nos ha brindado a mí y a mi familia muchas oportunidades de crecimiento.

¿Qué te impulsó a crear una empresa de limpieza profesional? La primera oportunidad laboral que tuve en Canadá fue en una compañía de limpieza, luego hice una carrera en el college enfocándome en el manejo de recursos humanos y payroll. Mi esposo siempre tuvo en mente formar nuestra propia compañía, ya teníamos la experiencia desde el punto de vista del empleado, tenía el respaldo de un diploma del college en “Human Resources and Payroll” así que llegamos a la conclusión de que la mejor opción era abrirnos paso en lo que ya conocíamos.

¿Qué retos y experiencias te deja cada lugar al que ofrecen los servicios de SSKG? Cada cliente es diferente, una de las experiencias más grandes es la diversidad de culturas, nuestro campo es el GTA, y la mezcla de culturas es ya cotidianidad en Canadá, de cada uno de ellos aprendemos algo, lo mejoramos y lo aplicamos en nuevos lugares.

Como emprendedora en un país que no es el tuyo ¿qué es lo más difícil? Lo más difícil es darme cuenta que el camino no es recto, tiene sus curvas y algunas bastante cerradas. La presión de llegar es fuerte pero no se compara con la de mantenerte. He aprendido a nadar con tiburones, el hecho de ser mujer, inmigrante, que el inglés no es mi lengua materna y si a eso le sumamos esposa y madre, en ocasiones me afecta. Hemos lidiado con experiencias desagradables, tanto con empleados como personas que no creen en una compañía liderada por una mujer y han tratado de sabotearnos, pero hemos salido con éxito de esas situaciones y con el favor de Dios estaremos cada día más fuertes. Dejar mi país fue una de las decisiones más complicadas de mi vida. En Venezuela tenía una carrera, una familia, toda una historia pero aprendí a querer a Canadá y a sentirla como mía, y estoy agradecida de todo lo que nos ha brindado. ¡Este es un gran país!

¿Cuándo contratar servicios de limpieza profesionales? A nivel comercial, Juan recomienda hacer una limpieza general a diario, ya que son muchas las personas con quienes se comparte el entorno. Aquí te contamos toda su historia. Aragón explica que la visión de su empresa “va más allá de ser una marca de lujo”, pues cada calzado refleja una historia. “Aquí cada zapato representa la historia de una persona que ha luchado para llegar al éxito, por eso en cada zapato está impreso el logo del Arco del Triunfo, pues es un reconocimiento a la lucha, persistencia y sacrificio que día a día hacen los colombianos para cumplir sus sueños”. Los zapatos están hechos en cueros como Napa, Camoscio y Vitello, y traen estampados de materiales exóticos como cocodrilo, avestruz y pitón. El zapato que le entregó a J Balvin, tiene un valor aproximado de 12.900 euros y fue realizado con 12 pieles distintas y exóticas.

También, Juan le dió un lujoso par de zapatos inspirados en las botas militares a Maluma, quien quedó tan impresionado que pidió que se los guardaran en su camioneta. Como sabrás y ya habrás visto desde el 15 de agosto, el primer ministro, Justin Trudeau, convocó a elecciones anticipadas en el país para este 20 de septiembre, cuando la próxima elección con fecha fija en Canadá debía llevarse a cabo en octubre de 2023. Para algunos inmigrantes será la primera vez que voten como canadienses y puede ser que no estén tan familiarizados con el proceso para hacer valer sus derechos como ciudadanos. Aquí te explicamos brevemente cómo podrás votar este 20 de septiembre. Primero debes saber que sólo los ciudadanos canadienses, mayores de 18 años pueden votar, también necesitas probar tu identidad y domicilio, ya sea con cualquier documento emitido por el gobierno de Canadá. Incluso puedes utilizar una factura de servicios públicos, con tu nombre completo y esta debe tener tu dirección actual. Es por ello que, durante todo el mes de septiembre, estos países celebran con desfiles, piñatas, así como bailes en las calles y hasta discursos de funcionarios públicos (antes de la llegada del COVID-19, obviamente). Estas celebraciones comienzan con la antorcha centroamericana, la cual recorre toda Centroamérica desde 1960. Inicia su recorrido el 1 de septiembre en Guatemala, hasta llegar a Costa Rica el 15 de septiembre. Este acto simboliza la independencia y unión de las naciones centroamericanas. Fue un proceso político tranquilo, contrario a lo que se piensa. En ninguna de las independencias de estos países hubo guerras ni enfrentamientos. Previo a la independencia, existió el Reino de Guatemala, constituido por lo que actualmente es Guatemala, Belice, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, el estado mexicano de Chiapas y las provincias panameñas de Chiriquíy Bocas del Toro.
