It's that time again when the city gets really busy – we all get back to our normal working lives, which of course in Brighton and Hove means making sure we're out as much as possible enjoying the brilliant music, comedy, art, theatre, dance and events the city has to offer. This month is the Magners Paramount Comedy Festival as well as the Brighton Comedy Fringe Festival. We know Sussex is home to a range of festivals of all varieties – and this weekend you can celebrate the joy of the British apple at Applefest at Middle Farm. See music news (p27). This Saturday the Ocean Rooms celebrates its 11th birthday – see our club listings on page 31 – and tonight Alan Clayson plays at our sister venue Latest Music Bar. Read Nick Aldwinckle's interview with Alan in music news (p27). Andrew Kay is excited about Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo coming to town soon. He met up with principal ballerina Robert Carter; read the interview on page 23. Also this week, Andrew has been dining at the delectable Chaula's in Lewes, but what did he make of those elephant ears? (p16) I have been dying to try a lazy Sunday brunch and bloody mary at Home Cafe; now the Queens Park restaurant/cafe is taking party bookings, so you can enjoy their home cooking at night as well as in the day (p15). You might have noticed that Halloween is looming. In preparation, I've been out on a ghost walk around Brighton (p11) and Phil Mills has been finding out how the police plan to tackle the hoards of zombies they're expecting to hit the streets (p13). If you're feeling brave, we've got some fantastic Halloween prizes; three sets of gory science kits each worth £75. Find out how to enter on page 15. Also family friendly is our kids and events page, where you can read about an autumn harvest and foraging event this weekend at Parham House and Gardens (p26). In Latest Sport, Joe Curtin ponders the state of modern football and how it might be affected by the economy (p14). Jo Brooks has been living it up at celeb haunts in New York (p9) and Dani's feeling melancholy and doesn't know how to stop (p8). In the TV section, Dani rips into Candace Bushnell’s new offering Lipstick Jungle (p36) and you can find seven days of TV listings. This week Victoria Nangle’s comedy interview is with this year’s if.comedy winner David O’Doherty. Find it on page 22 with the comedy listings and watch out for our reviews of the Magners Paramount Comedy Festival over the coming weeks. You can find even more listings online at Here at Latest magazines we are looking for web developer, if you fancy a challenge email
