Cut Off Your Hands Anglo-Kiwi indie hopefuls with a crazy name. Epic, post punk in places, emo-esque in others, these Auckland/London boys are making waves here in the UK and beyond and recently appeared here in Brighton as part of The Great Escape festival. Tuesday 15 July, Freebutt Rumberos de Cuba Features some of the finest musicians and dancers from the barrios of Havana, many of them past members of the acclaimed Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba, performing Cuban rumba. With nine musicians/singers and two dancers. Wednesday 16 July, Komedia Jeremy Warmsley + Liam Finn + Esser + Absentee + So So Modern A Transgressive Records night featuring the ultra intelligent quirky pop of Mr Warmsley and the similarly upbeat piano pop of new signing Liam Finn, son of one of the Crowded House Finn brothers. Real songs, with real stories from both as well as others on this impressive bill. Thursday 17 July, Audio Elliot Minor Blink 182 and Queen are influences in the classically-minded sound from this popular UK emo band. Friday 18 July, Concorde 2

Playgroup Fantastic late night party romp with live bands including Brighton’s eight-piece dub and reggae band Dub Octopus, funky hip hop outfit Ruderalis, Gogol Bordello influenced gypsy folk band Deathray Debauchery and Sheffield’s carnivalesque ska band Bison. Plus DJs in all three rooms of the venue. Always a blast. Friday 18 July, Concorde 2 Incognito Quick follow-up to their sell-out show last January, Bluey Maunick and band were at the forefront of the jazz funk scene back in the 80s. R’n’B, jazz and Latin flavours continue to inform their groove-laden songs, as evidenced by their new album Tales From The Beach. Saturday 19 July, Concorde 2 Lyrics Born Tokyo-born and American residing rapper; a whirlwind of activity including releasing his fourth album, heading up Quannum Projects and gigging all over the world. Minimalist groves, punk-funk and futurist electro informs his work that ranks him up there with the likes of MIA, Gnarls Barkley and Kanye West. He’s also one of the most licensed hip hop artists around; you can hear his work via corporate behemoths such as Diet Coke, Motorola and Nokia, as well as on loads of TV programmes and film.
