I CAN SEE YOU CHERRY TREE!!! We are the 1st grade class, like our 2nd grade school mates, we have chosen a name for our class: CHERRY TREE! As Marcel Coll and Sergi Coll have one at their orchard, on 25th September we went to see what a real one is like. The cherry tree is beautiful and changes its physical appearance through the year. Now it seemed a little sad; however our teacher told us that during the spring it flowers. The cherry tree looks spectacular. We’ll visit it during the flowering season again. We are happy with our tree!!!
HELLO FIG TREE. HOW ARE YOU? At the beginning of this course we, the second grade children chose “La Figuera” as our class name. Ana, our teacher, arranged a visit to an orchard in the school vicinity to see a real fig tree (Figuera). On Monday 14th, early in the morning, Ana leads us to the orchard and after 10 minutes walking we arrived at the place. We saw the fig tree, observed it, touched it, smelt it and listened to Ana’s explanations. We learned that it’s a deciduous tree, that its fruit tastes sweet and it’s very healthy and that the fig leaves are very big. At the orchard we found other trees: apple trees, pear trees, olive trees and also a vineyard, which was already harvested. What a lovely morning!!!
MERCABARNA: SEE FOOD!
What happens with fishing since it has been fished until it is cooked and served to be eaten? We discovered it at Mercabarna, a market that the 3rd grade children visited on 20th November. What a big market! We’ve learnt about fishing techniques: from harpoons and arrows to big nets pulled up by ships or boats. We’ve learnt that fishing is cleaned, classified and sold at “La Lotja”. This is a building where the fish shops buy the goods offered. We’ve learnt that we mustn’t over-exploit the see because its resources are limited. Finally, they taught us about healthy food and healthy habits. Interesting trip to Mercabarna!!!

EL PARC NATURAL DEL GARRAF - CAN GRAU Hello. We are the 5th grade class.Today is 12th November and we have paid a visit to “El Parc Natural del Garraf”. Our main objective was to learn about the relationship between people and the nature. We have learnt that the animals leave tracks that we can follow their droppings, leftovers, footprints, etc. and that the climate can define flora and fauna. Some useful advice could be: don’t litter the wood, don’t start fire nor disturb the animals The more care we take of the nature, the more satisfaction we’ll receive. Our hike has finished with music, songs and a “gymkhana” We enjoyed the day very much!!!
VINEYARD, HARVEST AND TV PROGRAMME On the morning of 15th October, our 6th grade children paid a visit to a vineyard to carry out a fascinating activity: The grape harvest. There, TV3 Television was waiting for us and recorded our labour. First: The harvest. We were taught how to hold the grapes and cut them off. Second: Crushing the grapes, pressing them mechanically or stepping on them to get the juice. This is called MUST. Third: Fermentation. Yeast converts the sugar in the must into carbon dioxide and alcohol. The process is longer but this is the basic process. Now, people can enjoy red or white wine, or maybe cava. It was a real life experience for the labourers and an amazing morning for all of us.
