FINALLY, FALL IS HERE! For those of us in Las Vegas, the changing of seasons is more than welcome. And although we are all too ready for the drop in temperature, we are also thankful that this year our summer seemed not as overbearing, and not quite as long. In some exciting news (at least for us), for the first time in almost 15 years, we have moved our primary office location. 14 years ago my former partner Florence Shapiro and I embarked on a journey in starting the Shapiro & Sher Group. We moved into our first joint office with visions of setting the world on fire... I know she would be proud :) We are now officed in the heart of Summerlin, located just off of Town Center and the 215 on-ramp. With quick and easy access to the 215, the Strip, the airport, and all surrounding communities, we are thrilled to be in our new location. So if you notice our sign has come down from our old location, no, we are not closing, just growing. And of course, we still have our Henderson location, close to the corner of St Rose and Eastern. In our next issue, we will be featuring the much anticipated launch of our Newport location. I am also so excited to be a sponsor and promoter of Ballsfest. Don’t let the name fool you, it is one of the most heartwarming and beautiful philanthropies. With a focus on terminally ill children, and a unique, completely original approach to bringing joy and self-worth to their world. In this issue, we celebrate Ballsfest with Frank Deblassi, its founder. This year has been an exceptional one; and despite rumors of a slower market, and words like “recession” as the topic of many conversations, this year has been outstanding and aggressive. TASTE BENEFITTING BALLSFEST OF LAS VEGAS Organizers and supporters of Ballsfest provide unforgettable experiences for those facing obstacles with the disease. The term, “Ballsfest”, was created by Frank DeBlasi, a testicular cancer survivor and keen supporter of children living with cancer. The term is a play on words, and one that reflects Frank’s positive spirit during his own battle. Combining his love for the upstate New York area and the Dave Matthews Band, Frank first hosted a small gathering for friends and concert goers on the grounds of Saratoga State Park in 2007. This initial gathering began a stream of annual events that grew dramatically in size over the years, and proceeds raised at these events benefitted a national cancer foundation. However, in 2013, Frank decided to shift focus with the proceeds from his annual event, and started to identify children in the local area affected by cancer. Since then, Ballsfest has honored and celebrated a number of these children in the upstate New York region and looks forward to deepening its impact further. Ballsfest conducts a signature annual fundraising event, and solicits grants and contributions year-round from individuals, private foundations and others, for the purpose of supporting young children who are facing difficult challenges. The Ivan Sher Group was honored to recently host a TASTE dinner party in benefit of Ballsfest. This is a special intimate event where guests can enjoy a spectacular home and a 3-course meal while gaining awareness of an incredible cause.
