Utilizing historical Chinese planning techniques to recreate hillside villages and towns front a series of rivers and streams. Distinctive layout and building mass recreate an ‘ancient’ waterfront retail and resort village

Shijiu Mixed-use Role: Planner CLIENT: Municipality of Rizhao Mid-rise mixed-use development on 12 ha site located within the CBD of Rizhao. Integrating 55k sm of retail space, 120k sm residential for sale offering, 45k sm hotel /serviced apartments product and 30ksm office space with a centrally located upscale fresh market.

Al Ain Wildlife Park and Resort Role: Design Manager CLIENT: Government of Abu Dhabi A 1900 ha Wildlife Park and Resort development located with the western regions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Both in environment and wildlife, AWPR is the fulfillment of HH Sheik Zayed’s vision to authentically recreate the major Desert Regions of the world. Building upon the existing zoo research facilities an ambitious development included one of a kind Guided Safari experiences radiating from a central Core Zoo collection/ entertainment complex. Additional program included resort hotels , a regional mall and primary/secondary residential products with associated facilities are all integrated within the development.

Widyan, Abu Dhabi UAE Role: Lead Planner/ Team Coordinator CLIENT: Manazel Residential A 3700ha New Town development located within the Urban Planning Council Framework for Abu Dhabi. Envisioned as a primary residential community for Nationals of the UAE, this development was patterned after conventional European neighborhoods. The final land-use yielded over 10,000 villas within 75 Residential Villages each clustered around Mixed-use Towncenters. With a focused intent of providing a completely interconnected community, a naturalized ‘Wadi’ system was created to become the centralized common thread for the development and preserved over 25% of the total land area in desert open-space

Role: Planner/ Team Coordinator CLIENT: Al Maabar International Investments A 12,000ac New Town development along the coast of the Mediterranean. Program included: a major down town center, 5 village ‘lifestyle centers’ 20,000 primary and secondary residential units, 10 resort hotels, 5 championship golf courses, 50 ha of commercial- office, retail, entertainment and civic/ institutional uses as well

Failaka Island, Kuwait Role: Planner/ Designer as part of a Consultant Team CLIENT: Al-Mal Real Estate Company Located on 26 km away from Kuwait City. Based on an adjacent land parcel that contains Greek archeological ruins, the overall design concept consists of a Greek themed resort. Current access to Failaka Island is via an existing marina that will be upgraded.

Naval Base Redevelopment, UAE

Role: Planner/ Team Coordinator CLIENT: Sorouh Real Estate 150 ac urban waterfront development in the heart of the capital city of Abu Dhabi. Program included nearly 7million sf of built-up area and over 6 million sf of primary and secondary residential product, (2) business hotels, 700,000 sm of commercial office/retail bua and civic uses as well. Additional components to include Entertainment/ Retail waterfront promenade and fresh market.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi, UAE


Role: Designer as part of a Consultant Team Nearly 4,000 hectares of community, civic, and public planning efforts. Located near Abu Dhabi, in the UAE and under the direction of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The goal was to provide forward thinking to a master plan for an Emirate community. The emphasis was to build a cohesive community by creating principles of design with attention to cultural, civic, and geographic opportunities. The design exemplified neighborhood planning, by creating a high standard of livability by developing a connective open space, placing importance on walkability, and community interaction.

Discovery Gardens, Dubai, UAE Role: Lead Urban Planner/ Team Coordinator CLIENT: Nakheel Lead Planner and team coordinator on an urban infill project for Nakheel final plans provided for over 950,000sm in BUA . Among several of the guiding principles was the primary objective of seeking to achieve ‘gold’ status for the development in anticipation of the LEED -Neighborhood Design standards



LARRY D HUGHES Cacique, Guanacaste, Costa Rica Role: Lead Planner/ Project Manager CLIENT: Revolution Resorts A 2,000-acre destination development located in the along the northwest coastline of the Pacific. Ultimate build-out to include: (1) branded resort hotel, 55 room One and Only Hotel, Miraval Spa, a full-service marina for fishing and diving charters, 18-hole championship golf courses, an equestrian center and 500 units variety of resort housing types.

Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, UAE Role: Planner/ Project Manager CLIENT: Istitmar Leisure This 2700-acre community will include 4 golf courses, 2 of which are Greg Norman Designs, a town center and 16,000 residential units. It will also feature the Arabian Canal, providing ocean access to residents of the community. -

Marrakech Property, Marrakech, Morocco Role: Planner/ Project Manager CLIENT: Sorouh Real Estate 500ha mixed-use community with associated healthcare Facilities.Utilizing TND principals, created a predominately upscale active adult residential development targeting French retirees was planned on a parcel of land in close proximity to the historic Qasba. Theming integrated the storyline of the original use of the site by His Highness for horse racing and equestrian

Pont Royal, Aix-en-Provence, France

Role: Site Designer as part of a Consultant Team A planned resort community on 500 acres in southern France that reflects its location in the heart of Provence. It includes an 18-hole Seve Ballesteros golf course, 11 tennis courts, health club and a village square with shops, boutiques, and restaurants.
