General Manager WINTER 2018/SPRING 2019

Hello and welcome to Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD). I hope those of you who have been long time users of our programs, parks and open spaces will notice the great amount of work that has been completed over the last year, and will be completed in the next few months. We have had major trail improvements at Sycamore Grove Park that many visitors are beginning to enjoy. Camp Shelley up in the Tahoe basin is getting a brand new restroom with ADA upgrades. The Robert Livermore Aquatics Center pools are getting a facelift with new surfacing and equipment, and the Robert Livermore Community Center will be undergoing an Energy Efficiency Project that will reduce energy consumption and produce energy through solar panels. The Four Parks Project will be upgrading Big Trees Park, May-Nissen Park, Pleasure Island, and Jane Adams Preschool at Max Baer Park. I know that is a lot, but there is more. Robertson Park is going to see additional synthetic turf added for spectators and participants. You may see ribbon cutting events for all of these projects, as well as other projects that are in the planning phase such as Bothwell Art Center, Sunset Park and The Barn. All of this and a general increase in shade structures throughout the parks. Please support our efforts and enjoy your tax dollars at work.

Mat Fuzie General Manager

Tucked away in a pine forest near the south shore of Lake Tahoe, this intimate 25-site family-friendly campground offers spacious campsites in a beautiful setting. Opportunities for bicycling, swimming, fishing, horseback riding and hiking in the Desolation Wilderness can be found just minutes away. Within the camp, visitors may enjoy a game of volleyball, horseshoes or ping-pong while the kids ride their bikes around the paved campground loop. Rangers are on duty daily to assist you and to maintain the camp. Each campsite has a parking place, picnic table, fire pit with grill, food locker and a level spot to pitch a tent. Several sites can accommodate boats, tent trailers, and motorhomes while a few sites can hold vehicles or trailers up to 28 feet in length and 10 feet in height. In addition, there are sites that can accommodate people with mobility issues. A central restroom has flush toilets and hot showers.

Sycamore Grove Park

Brushy Peak Adventure 2

Sycamore Grove Park is an 847-acre open space park in south Livermore. The park provides opportunities to experience the great outdoors. Take a family outing, hike, ride a horse, bike or enjoy a picnic.

If you have already done the first Brushy Peak hike and would like to see some of the other areas of the preserve, or if you aren’t interested in climbing the peak but would still like to explore the wind caves and vernal pools, then sign up for this less strenuous hike that focuses more on the rock formations and other parts of the preserve that aren’t usually included in the main hike.

Sycamore Grove Park Annual Parking Pass For our frequent park visitors, these parking passes represent a tremendous savings over the daily parking fee. Discounts are available to seniors 60 years and older. Call 925-960-2400 for more information.

Sycamore Grove Calendar

Want to show support for the District’s open space parks? It’s easy! Purchase a beautiful Sycamore Grove Park calendar for your home and office! Filled with incredible images of this open space gem, the calendar also makes a great gift for your friends and family.
