Memoir of a Leadership Guru:Warren Bennis An interesting book published by Wiley (2010) from the founding father of the contemporary field of leadership studies. Warren Bennis is a celebrated scholar, organizational consultant author, and expert in the field of leadership. His memoir is full of success and failure stories from his long life and career. The book reveals the triumphs and struggles of the man

who is seen as being the pioneer in the modern leadership movement. Warren Bennis is distinguished professor of business administration at the University of Southern California. He is chairman of the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

A Thought for the Guru of Gurus: Peter Drucker "He was the creator and inventor of modern management," said management guru Tom Peters. The story of Peter Drucker is the story of management itself. He taught generations of managers the importance of picking the best people,

of focusing on opportunities and not problems, of getting on the same side of the desk as your customer, of the need to understand your competitive advantages, and to continue to refine them. He believed that talented people were the

essential ingredient of every successful enterprise, and that knowledge workers should be treated as assets, not as liabilities. He introduced the prominent concepts of management by objective (MBO),outsourcing, decent -ralization…(1909-2005).

Book Review:Rethinking the Financial Crisis We’re on the Web!

www.alhosnu.ae

ALAN S. BLINDER ANDREW W . LO ROBERT M. SOLOW EDITORS (SAGE,2012 ) Some economic events are so major and unsettling that they “change everything.”

Such is the case with the financial crisis that started in the summer of 2007 and is still a drag on the world economy. Yet enough time has now elapsed for economists to consider questions that run deeper than the usual focus on the immediate causes and consequences of the crisis. How have these stunning events changed our thinking about the role of the financial system in the economy, about the costs and benefits of financial innovation, about the efficiency of

role the government should play in regulating finance? In Rethinking the Financial Crisis, some of the nation’s most renowned economists share their assessments of particular aspects of the crisis and reconsider the way we think about the financial system and its role in the economy. ALAN S. BLINDER is Professor at Princeton University. ANDREW W. LO is Professor at M.I.T. ROBERT M. SOLOW is Professor at M.I.T.,and Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences (1987).
