Kressler to remain on board By KEN PALMER

DeWITT — The saga of a school board member, a teacher and some controversial comments on Facebook is over at least for now. The Board of Education last week said it had no legal authority to seek the resignation of board member Caroline “Lyn” Kressler over her comments about teacher Jeff Croley, as Croley’s family had asked. But the board said it would be a conflict of interest for Kressler to vote on issues involving Croley or the theater department. Croley handles the theater program. “It’s imperative that the district get on with the education of our children,” Kressler the board said in a statement read by its president, Mark Kellogg. In a Facebook conversation recently made public, Kressler spoke of using her board position to “throw roadblocks” in Croley’s way, specifically referring to stage weights. Skip Croley, the reacher’s father, raised the issue in a board meeting several weeks ago and formally asked the board to take a public vote on whether she should resign her

board seat. Kressler, a former teacher in the district, has since apologized for her comments, saying her dispute with Croley was personal and that she never intended to do him any harm. On Sept. 13, board members discussed the issue in a closed session that lasted more than 70 minutes. Kressler asked that the board discuss the complaint against her in a closed session. In it’s statement, the board said Kressler’s comments were “clearly inappropriate.” But she acknowledged her mistake and will remain accountable to the public at election time, it said. The board also said it will not discuss the issue again. About 18 people addressed the board on the issue last week, some of whom condemned Kressler’s comments and urged the board to take action against her. But others defended her as an excellent former teacher who made a mistake. Among them was Noreen Marriott, to whom Kressler was speaking during the Facebook conversation in March. “It was hyperbole, it was sarcasm,” she said of the conversation. Skip Croley said he believes Kressler violated the board’s bylaws and her oath as a board member. “I’m glad the board put some restraints on Lyn,” he said. “We knew going in that they couldn’t remove her from office. At the same time, we think it’s shameful that she chose to remain on the board.”

DEWITT — Area voters will go to the polls Nov. 2 to fill public offices at the local and state level. Two statewide ballot proposals will also be decided. Proposal 10-1, if approved , would convene a constitutional convention to revise the Michigan Constitution. Also on the ballot is Proposal 10-2, which would amend the

state constitution to ban certain felons from holding an elected office and specified types of public employment. Voters in the City of DeWitt also have a ballot question, asking residents to decide if there should be a general revision to the city charter. Area voters who reside within the Lansing School District will decide the fate of a building and site sinking fund proposal. If approved, the proposal would levy 1.5 mills for five years

beginning July 1, 2011 to fund the construction and repair of school buildings and other purposes allowed by law. The levy would raise over $4.1 million in 2011.

Local races The ballot for City of DeWitt residents will include voting for the next mayor and three seats on the city See Election/page 3

DeWITT — The DeWitt District Library will close its satellite office and cut Tuesday hours at its main branch as library revenues continue to fall. The changes, which take effect on Oct. 1, come just weeks after voters approved a half-mill levy to support the library. “It’s just been a very difficult process for us because our budget has been cut by 10 percent since last year,” library director Jennifer Balcom said. “The community just said, ‘Hey, we’re going to renew our millage.’ Even so, funding is down. Taxable values are down.” The library’s Board of Trustees agreed to suspend operations at the satellite branch in the DeWitt Community Center on Brook Road. The branch doesn’t see a lot of use, and weekly hours were cut from 20 hours a week last year to 13 hours a week, Balcom said. The board also decided to cut Tuesday hours at the main branch. Beginning Oct. 1, the library will be open from 1 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, instead of the current 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Balcom said. “When it came time to reduce hours, we did not want to reduce hours on Sunday,” she said. “That’s one of our busiest days.” Sunday hours will remain 1 to 4 p.m. during the school year. The library also will establish a $1 delivery fee on MeLCat items, The library’s budget fell from $550,000 last year to $515,150 this year, Balcom said. State aid has been cut dramatically, and local tax revenues have fallen as taxable values have declined, she said. Moreover, revenue from penal fines is down by $22,000 from last year, she said. The library cut its book budget by 35 percent this year and reduced staff time by 20 hours, Balcom said. Salaries account for 65 percent of the library’s budget, she said. “Sometimes, when you’re lean in all those other areas, there is no other place to cut,” she said. “We’re trying to do what we can to be as responsible as we can and still offer excellent service to the community. The next step is to develop a strategic plan based on information from surveys and community forums to make sure the library meets the community’s needs , Balcom said. A library specialist was brought in last week to talk about “lean library basics,” she said. The DeWitt District Library, which serves the city of DeWitt, DeWitt Township and parts of Watertown Township, is busy for its size. The main library on Schavey Road will remain open from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 1 to 7 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. “At some point, we do hope to have another satellite location in the southern tier,” she said.

would have led to her demise. If I had done the surgery she would have survived but within days would have gone into full renal failure, dying a slow miserable death. What outward sign did she show? She drank an excessive amount of water. The owners thought this was normal for their puppy. Example number two was a geriatric pooch needing her teeth cleaned and a small growth excised from her eyelid. Lab work showed a very low platelet count. Platelets are used for clotting blood. Not something you want in short supply when you do surgery! I rescheduled the surgery for a week and repeated the blood test. This time it was even lower. Ultrasound showed metastatic cancer in her abdomen! Her platelets were being used to stop internal bleeding. Had I removed the growth without doing pre-op lab work I would have had a bloody mess and put her through an unnecessary procedure as she passed within a month. Besides these examples, monthly there will be a pet presented for surgery that seems to be OK. Their temperature is normal, they’re eating and are playful. When we do the CBC, complete blood count, they will have a significant elevation in their white blood cell count. What does that mean? Their body is successfully fighting an infection. If we do the surgery, their immune i.e. healing system will be overwhelmed and they will show obvious signs of an infection. So we send them home on an appropriate antibiotic and re-check the CBC in a few weeks. Almost without fail, their CBC is normal and the surgery goes ahead as planned. Here is the take home message. In today’s word, we have the ability to test your loved one immediately prior to doing an anesthetic procedure. The results help us to access the situation and tell us it’s OK to proceed as scheduled. If we discover something is wrong, yet the procedure has to be done, for example a dog with bloat, we may be able to make modifications and make it safer. Then again, there are occasions when it’s best for the patient’s sake to simply reschedule. For more information about this and other pet health concerns contact an expert, your veterinarian. Dr. Stephen R. Thimmig leads an incredible Health Care Team at the Zeeb Pet Health Center and Three Shears for Pets. Visit them on the web at

DeWitt-Bath Review

Using the latest and greatest anesthetic agents combined with pre-procedure lab testing has made anesthesia incredibly safe! We use the same anesthetic agents in my office as are used in area “human” hospitals. I have often said, “If it’s good enough for people, then I’ll consider using it on a pet”. With anesthesia, the similarity between pets and people is incredible. You’ll be glad to know, pets receive the same premium level of care at my office as you do when you’re admitted to a hospital. Did you know isoflurane is routinely used in human hospitals for general anesthesia? You guessed Pet it; we use the same drug in veterinary medicine. It’s even health used to anesthetize fish! How can this be? The gas anesDr. Stephen thesia is bubbled through the R. Thimmig water the fish swim in. When they “breath” it in through their gills, they are anesthetized. To wake them up we simply place them in a tank of fresh water. When done at the time of surgery, in-office lab tests have helped us do a much better job of keeping patients healthy. As a result, induction is smoother as is their recovery. I have made it mandatory that blood testing be done prior to anesthetic procedures. In this way we are able to get important information about the pet’s overall health immediately prior to doing a procedure. Hence, we are able to determine their ability to clot blood, fight infections as well as check for various waste products. This equipment gives us up to the minute information concerning the patient’s blood and organ function. Here are two real life examples of doing pre-op lab work. A 13-week-old puppy was presented for a complete hysterectomy (spay). Her lab work showed a huge elevation in the BUN. This is a protein waste product that is eliminated by the kidneys. An elevation of this magnitude meant 75 percent of the kidney mass was failing! Polysystic kidney disease was discovered by ultrasounding her abdomen. She was born with huge fluid filled cysts in her kidneys replacing normal tissues and was in compensated renal failure. Withholding water for even a few hours during surgery

DeWITT TWP. — Catalytic converter thieves have struck at least twice in the DeWitt area over the past couple of weeks. Township police were called to a business on Wood Road on Sept. 7 after someone discovered that two company work trucks had been stripped of their converters over the holiday weekend, police reports said. Over the same weekend, the catalytic converter was cut from a vehicle parked in front of an automotive shop on Glenn Road. Thieves apparently jacked up the vehicle under the driver’s door, damaging the door and fender area, the reports said. Catalytic converters are part of the exhaust system and are often targeted by thieves because they contain precious metals.

equipment when someone stole a utility trailer parked at his home over the Labor Day weekend. The resident, who stored the equipment in the locked trailer, discovered it missing from the side of the house on W. Weiland Street on Sept. 8, a police report said. The hitch coupling was padlocked, he said.

Mystery novel offers plenty of twists, intrigue Bridget Matthews is getting married. Elizabeth Parker is her maid of honor. Throw in a grandmother who predicts murder, an uncle who drinks himself stupid, an aunt with a wicked tongue, a boyfriend who appears to be falling for Chloe, the wedding planner, and you have all the ingredients for “Murder on the Bride’s Side.” Tracy Keily spins a witty but predictable tale that has Elizabeth Parker quoting the likes of Jane Austin, Noel Coward and Charles Dickens. Bridget, her family, and Chloe, have a fairy tale wedding all set to take place in Bridget’s family estate in Richmond Virginia, but it takes a nasty turn for the worse. The bride and groom make it down the aisle, but things quickly fall apart. The next morning just before brunch is to be served, Elizabeth discovers Bridget’s Aunt Roni outside with a kitchen knife protruding from her chest. The suspects are many

Bridget and Colin are forced to postpone their honeymoon until someone is charged with murder, so Elizabeth tries to solve the mystery. This not being her first attempt, Elizabeth, Peter, Bridget and Colin try to figure out just who had the most to gain by Roni’s death. The four decide to search the rooms of all the guests staying at the house and Elizabeth finds Roni’s necklace in her own drawer. However, when Harry is arrested for the murder, Elizabeth is convinced he’s innocent. Tracy Kiely ties everything up with a pretty white wedding bow, and everyone is happy in the end. Elizabeth overheard Roni on the phone talking to someone about selling off Avery’s company. Bridget’s Uncle David works for the company and if Roni convinces him to sell he’s out of a job. Bridget’s cousin Harry is also on the short list as he clearly detests Roni. Even Millie, Uncle Avery’s nurse, hated Roni. Detective Grant is assigned to the case and as he questions all parties involved, the stories don’t add up. Uncle David is lying and his wife Claire is covering. ST. JOHNS — Habitat for Humanity of Clinton County has named Sarah Young as manager of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in St. Johns. “I started working at the ReStore as a volunteer a year ago - two months before it opened, explains Young. “I was looking for a place to volunteer and I had heard about Habitat for Humanity ReStores from relatives in other states and was impressed with the mission.” In August 2010, Young was offered the position of store manager. Having been with the store since the day it opened last October, Young said it is rewarding to see the positive response the ReStore is getting in the community. “We get a lot of smiles, a lot of repeat customers and a lot of people coming in who are blown away by the inventory and the quality of our facility,” says Young. We also have customers who say they like knowing that proceeds from the ReStore help Habitat for Humanity and its mission of eliminating substandard housing, says Young. Many of our frequent customers are in the middle of remodeling or redecorating

projects, explains Young. “Our inventory changes daily and many of our customers know this, so they shop here often,” says Young. “ Born and raised in St. Johns, Young moved out of state where she worked 45 years as a paralegal. She returned to St. Johns four years ago. The store carries construction materials such as doors and windows, electrical and plumbing supplies, lighting fixtures as well as household and office furniture. Some of the inventory is new, but most items are used items in good condition. Items sell for 50 to 75 percent off their original value if they are in good shape. Donations are accepted on a daily basis. Customers can bring them in anytime the store is open, explains Young. Donated items are then cleaned, labeled and priced and put into the store inventory. The store does not accept donations of dishes, flatware, clothing or other soft goods such as towels, and blankets. A driver is available every Wednesday for pick-up and delivery. — From Habitat for Humanity of Clinton County

screening services as well as information on the importance of cardiovascular health and cancer prevention. Once a year, we bring all these resources together under one roof, hoping residents throughout Clinton County will take time to learn more about what steps they can take to improve their health, their family’s health and the health of their community. We, and our health fair partners, emphasize the importance of a holistic approach to health – one that treats mind, body and spirit – through preventive health services, nutrition, healthy and active lifestyles, dental health, smoking cessation and environmental health and sustainability. While at the health fair, you also can learn more about volunteerism and emergency preparedness planning for individuals, families and communities. Every adult who attends the fair can enter a drawing to win an emergency preparedness kit. In addition, we make it fun for children to attend the fair by offering special kids’ events, such as healthy community activities, crafts and door prize drawings. MDCH urges public to get flu vaccine this year LANSING - The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) is gearing up for the 2010-2011 influenza season by making special efforts to educate the public about the new universal flu recommendations. The single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated each year and, for the first time this flu season, it is recommended that everyone 6 months of age and older receive a seasonal flu vaccine. While flu is unpredictable, it’s likely that 2009 H1N1 viruses and regular seasonal viruses will cause illness in the United States this flu season. The 2010-2011 flu vaccine will protect against three different flu viruses: an H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus and the H1N1 virus that caused so much illness last season. “Flu season is on its way and we encourage all Michigan residents over 6 months of age to get vaccinated,” said Dr. Greg Holzman, chief medical executive for MDCH. “The single best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated. Everyone 6 months of age and older - including healthy people - need to get vaccinated against influenza this year and every year.” MDCH also encourages new parents, health care professionals, and those who have contact with people age 65 and older to get vaccinated to help protect these high-

risk individuals. Children in need of a second dose of flu vaccine must be fully protected also because flu spreads easily in classroom settings, and school-aged children often spread influenza to their siblings and family members. Parents are urged to talk to their doctor or health care provider to see if their child needs two doses of flu vaccine this flu season. People should receive a flu vaccine as soon as the vaccine is available in provider offices, pharmacies, local health departments, and other vaccination locations. Flu vaccinations are effective throughout the entire flu season, which can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Vaccine manufacturers expect shipments to be made on-time this year. A record number of doses of flu vaccine - 160 million - are expected to be produced this flu season and many doses have been shipped out already. There are two types of flu vaccines: • The “flu shot”- an inactivated vaccine (containing killed virus) that is given with a needle. The seasonal flu shot is approved for use in people 6 months of age and older, including healthy people, people with chronic medical conditions and pregnant women.

• The nasal-spray flu vaccine -a vaccine made with live, weakened flu viruses that do not cause the flu (sometimes called LAIV for “Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine”). LAIV is approved for use in healthy people 2-49 years of age who are not pregnant. If parents are concerned because their children do not have health insurance or are only partly insured, they can ask their doctor or local health department about how to get publicly purchased vaccines through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program. The VFC program provides vaccines to eligible children and adolescents. Doctors and clinics administer vaccines to children who qualify and the government pays for the immunization. Children from birth through 18 years of age can receive the VFC benefit if they are: 1) on Medicaid; 2) eligible for Medicaid; 3) American Indian or Alaskan Native; 4) are under-insured or do not have health insurance. DeWitt’s Caleb Higbie scrambles for positive yardage in the Panthers win over Haslett. against Haslett on Sept. 10 score. Senior Mike Gorman had 12 tackles and senior safety Josh Delaney had an interception in the midst of five straight second-half possessions between the two teams that resulted in some sort of turnover -either the interception, a fumble, or one of three turnovers on downs.

DeWitt drove to Haslett’s 31 and 26-yard lines, respectively, before failing on fourth downs. Haslett fumbled on DeWitt’s 31-yard line, but its toughest blow came on a 4thand-5 at the Panthers’ 7-yard line a little more than a minute into the fourth quarter. The Vikings

were stopped a yard short of a first down. “I came in with the idea that we were going to be aggressive,” Otlewski said. “Could you look back and say do it differently? Yeah, but we were going to be aggressive. We said that from the onset. And I thought our kids responded.”

DEWITT —Haslett students hung a banner on their side of the field Friday that read “It’s our time.” And for a quarter, it looked like they were right. But by the end of the night, DeWitt’s students had taken possession of the banner and their team had a seventh straight win over the Vikings, thanks to more lastminute heroics by senior quarterback Caleb Higbie. For the second straight week, Higbie needed a winning touchdown with fewer than 3 minutes to play. This time, he ran across the goalline with 11.8 seconds left - nearly having his head knocked off in the process to put DeWitt in the lead on the way to a 33-20 victory. A week ago, Higbie connected on a scoring pass with 34.9 seconds left to beat Portland. And instead of two close losses, DeWitt is 3-0. “When it comes down to a game like this, you’ve gotta finish the drive and win the game,” Higbie said. “We knew this was going to be a close game from the start. They were hyped all year. They have like 18 returning seniors and juniors coming back to start. But we didn’t expect it to come down like that.” Higbie threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 97 yards and two more scores Sept. 10. Haslett had jumped to a 14-0 lead, then tied the score 20-20 on a 57-yard scoring pass from Haslett junior Adam Foren to junior Marcus Jenks with 2:49 to play. But Higbie then moved his team 84 yards

on nine plays for the goahead score. “We didn’t have to say anything about ‘Hey, come back and make a play.’ They did it themselves,” DeWitt coach Rob Zimmerman said. “A lot of that goes back to our summer work and 7-on7s and competing in things like that. And you look at our big players. All seniors, three are three-year varsity players who have played big games, and that helps us a great deal.” Junior Ethan Rennaker intercepted a last-ditch Haslett pass and returned it for a final touchdown on the last play of the game. Haslett fell to 1-2, 0-1. “In that second quarter we let them get back into it, probably emotionally as well as the score. And then it took us a little bit to get rolling again in the third quarter,” Haslett coach Charlie Otlewski said. “Other than that, I love how we responded. I love the character of this group of kids. And we’re going to win a lot of football games.” DeWitt senior running back Nathaniel Deak ran for 119 yards on just 10 carries. Senior Jordan Johnson had five catches for 125 yards and a score, and Caleb’s twin brother Jacob Higbie caught six passes for 70 yards and a score. Rennaker, a linebacker, led the Panthers with 12 tackles, and senior linebacker Dylan Keener had 10. Although Haslett had 103 total yards in the first quarter, the Vikings managed just 176 the rest of the game. Jenks had 68 yards including a dynamic 27-yard scoring run to lead Haslett. Senior Jake Lampman had all of his yards on a 52-yard

DHS to induct Hall of Fame class on Sept. 24 Six individuals, two teams to be honored this week DeWITT — Community support is needed to continue the DeWitt High School Athletic Hall of Fame. This annual event, established in 2008, has been made possible due in large part to the generous donations received from DeWitt area residents and businesses. Although the DHS Athletic Hall of Fame is associated with DeWitt Public Schools, it is entirely funded by private donations. The community is also asked to honor the Induction Class of 2010 with a ceremony taking place on Friday, Sept. 24, during halftime of the home varsity football game against Charlotte. Following the ceremony, a complete biography and photo of each inducted member will be etched into a plaque that will be mounted on the brick wall directly west of the gymnasium doors in the athletic and performing arts corridor of the high school. The DHS Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 2007 to honor the outstanding athletes, teams, community supporters, and coaches/administrators from DeWitt High School’s athletic past. Last spring the DeWitt-Bath Review had exclusive access in revealing the Induction Class of 2010 – the 1979 Boys Track State Championship team, the 1981 Girls Cross Country State Championship team, Sam Dalman, Casey Laughlin, Sheila Milner, Doug Peiffer, Jim Sinadinos, and Cindy White – one member at a time, complete with a picture, biography of their high-

lights, and where they are now. The DHS Athletic Hall of Fame hopes that the nomination process will continue to grow as community members look to nominate other notable teams, athletes, coaches/administrators, and community supporters for future induction classes. As the process comes to a close for year three, the DHS Athletic Hall of Fame is currently accepting nominations for the Induction Class of 2011. To be honored with induction, teams will be eligible five years after completion of their exceptional season; athletes will be eligible five years after graduation from high school, and other individuals such as coaches/administrators and

community supporters will have immediate eligibility. Additionally, persons nominating an individual or team must not have a direct family relationship to the individual or team. All nomination forms will be kept on file for future consideration. Persons who would like to nominate an individual or team, print and complete a nomination form from the DeWitt Public Schools web page ( under “Athletics.” Community members are also able to access the “Hall of Fame” web page from the same DPS website for announcements and information on past, current, and future induction classes. Completed nomination forms can be sent to: DeWitt High School Athletic Hall of Fame, PO Box 800, DeWitt, MI 48820 The deadline for nominations for the Induction Class of 2011 is Dec. 31. The DHS Athletic Hall of Fame is also encouraging community members to submit memorabilia such as newspaper clippings, team photos, and any other documents to further highlight the induction classes. The Hall of Fame is also seeking financial support. While it is associated with DeWitt Public Schools, the DHS Athletic Hall of Fame is privately funded. Donations may qualify as a tax deductible contribution for income tax purposes. Questions about making a financial contribution should be directed to the DeWitt High School Athletic Office at (517) 668-3143. — From the DHS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee

Bee gridders grind out win over Aggies

DeWitt-Bath Review

Victory improves Bath squad to 2-1 By BILL McLEOD

Bath’s Austin Townsend leaped in and blocked an Aggie extra point attempt to keep the Bees up by one point over Dansville. Bath scored a fourth quarter touchdown to seal a 28-20 win.

BATH — Bath football pulled off a big win over CMAC rival Dansville, beating the Aggies 28-20 Sept. 10. Dansville was coming off a 41-21 win over perennial powerhouse Fulton. “It was a good game for us, as I’ve said before, anybody can beat anybody on any given night,” Bath coach Chris Rypstra said about teams in the league. “It’s a pretty tight league.” Bath, Saranac and Fulton each have 2-1 league records. Fowler and PewamoWestphalia lead the league with 3-0 records. Justin Gurk, the Bees bruising fullback, led the Bath running game, picking up 107 yards on 18 carries. It was Gurk’s second 100-yard game in a row. Tyler Garfield gained 73 yards on 13 carries. Brodie Megill picked up 70 yards on 12 carries. Cameron Garrett rushed for 31 yards. Bath was content to run the ball, keeping Dansville and its potent no-huddle offense on the bench. Megill connected on 3-of-5 passes for 57 yards. “That was our game plan going in” Ryp-

stra said about the Bee ground game. “We wanted to keep them off the field as much as possible and run the clock. Brodie (Megill) is a pretty good passer and we have some good wide receivers. We didn’t have go to the air as much. We went to the air when we wanted to, not because we were forced into it.” Rypstra said the balanced rushing attack with each running back getting positive yardage shows the backs are blocking for each other, a key to running their option-style offense. Trailing 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, Bath scored twice before halftime. Megill ran in both scores, the first on a six-yard rush and the second on an 11-yard run. Dansville knotted the score at 14-14 at halftime on an 18-yard pass from Andy Parsons to Nate Bailer. Garfield scored on a four-yard run in the third quarter to put the Bees up 21-14. Dansville responded with a 41-yard touchdown run by Jacob Hause. The extra point kick was blocked by Austin Townsend to keep Bath in the lead. Garfield scored his second touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Bees an eight-point margin. With time running out in the game, Dansville mounted a drive deep into Bath territory. the Bath 20-yard line, tried to pass the ball for a score. All four Dansville passes were incomplete. Evan Eddy, Townsend and Brandon Wahrer each deflected a Dansville pass. On the fourth-down pass, after Wahrer deflected the ball, Megill spiked it to the ground to eliminate any chance of an Aggie picking off the tipped ball. Bath took possession with about a minute left and took a knee to run out the clock. With two wins in their first three

games, the Bees have a good chance of getting the most wins since the 2000 season when they won eight games. Twice since the 2000 season the Bees have won three games. “It nice to see this for the kids, they haven’t had the success they wanted and they deserve it,” Rypstra said. “They worked hard and things didn’t fall in place for them last year.” Bath had one win last year. Bath played Carson City-Crystal Sept. 17 with results too late for this edition. The Bees host Laingsburg Sept. 24.

Inspired by wonder

When we think about our future, we see our children and the people of mid-Michigan. So when we created our vision, they inspired us to set our sights high: to be recognized as a national leader in quality and patient care. To get there, we’ve made bold changes at Sparrow Clinton Hospital like partnering with LifeNet of Michigan, the region’s first dedicated helicopter service, to speed patients to our Level I Trauma Center in Lansing. We also added new technology to bring the latest digital imaging diagnostic services to St. Johns. And that’s just the beginning. To learn more about the inspired changes at Sparrow, visit Formerly Clinton Memorial Hospital in St. Johns LJ-0100037048
