ALL ABOUT MIGRAINES Migraines can be debilitating and the source of many ailments. There are many reasons one may struggle with migraines. It can be caused by sudden changes in weather or the environment. Significant life changes such as loss, trauma, or grief can also bring these on. Migraines occur when the sudden shifting of neurotransmitters take place. This section of the brain is more commonly known as serotonin. The changes in the serotonin at high levels cause the brain to shrink and swell which causes severe headaches. There are many migraine symptoms that accompany migraines such as dizziness, pain behind the eyes, sensitivity to light and sounds. Migraines can be brought on by stress, depression, or fatigue. They can also be triggered by lack of nutrition or sleep. The alleged abrupt changes that may took place with the brain's neurotransmitter's serotonin level is believed to be affected and triggered by hormonal changes in women especially during pregnancy. In addition to that, diabetes and thyroid problems have also been hypothesized to cause the changes with the serotonin levels. Other predisposing factors contributing to the increase of migraines are too much stress, depression, over fatigued from working, lack of adequate rest and sleep as well as eating tyramine containing foods has been noted to trigger the attack for most individuals. As we all know, lack of adequate rest and sleep has been noted to be the major cause not only by migraine headaches but as well as other related health conditions since the human body is greatly in need of adequate resting period. Failure to sustain that particular need for resting will caused alterations and disturbance of normal body functions as well as causing certain hormonal changes; that is why most people who are diagnosed to be affected by various types of migraines are observed to have had a decrease in the amount of sleep within the past 3-6 months. During the adult period of life the individuals have already established a routine activity for everyday work and other responsibilities and that is why, stress and frustration may likely to occur due to over fatigability from the daily activity. Nearly all individuals experienced this particular health condition one time or another throughout their life span, but for others it is most common to take place due to the cited factors. For women, another difficult part of their pregnancy is the contributing signs and symptoms which include the frequent occasional migraine headaches. There is a lot we do not know about migraines, but there is a lot we do.
