Advanced Black & White Photography This course explores the foundations of the Zone System and puts into practice the concept of pre-visualizing your black and white images. It will take your black and white photography to a higher level of quality and will teach critical tonal recognition. The goal of this course is to be able to shoot perfect negatives consistently. Prerequisites: Intermediate Photography and Basic Darkroom (or equivalents). Note: This course is film-based, and not designed for digital photographers.

Advanced Composition & Design Students continue on from Composition and Design to look at design theory in more depth. Shooting assignments are complemented with an ongoing assignment to be completed throughout the 12 weeks. Topics include the psychology of seeing, unusual composition techniques, image association, deliberate image distortions, telling stories with sequences of images, and creating a simple multi-media presentation of a final assignment. Prerequisites: Composition and Design, Practical Lighting, Photoshop Level 1.

Concerned entirely with digital workflow, it provides students with a thorough overview of how to get the most out of their DSLR cameras.
