The Carbosan coal terminal has a loading capacity of 2,000 tons per hour and an annual storage capacity of 7 million tons. The terminal has all the necessary installed capacity and experience to serve the needs of coal exporters.

Reserve Colombia has the largest coal reserve in Latin America, ranking ninth as a producer and fourth as an exporter of this commodity. The richest mineral areas in Colombia are in the territories of Cesar and La Guajira and represent 80 per cent of national coal production. These territories produce nearly 50 million tons of coal for export. This mineral is vital for Colombia’s foreign trade and for the economies of the producing areas.

Santa Marta is only 200 km from these two large coal-producing areas. This puts Santa Marta in an ideal location in terms of the logistics of exporting this Colombian product to the world.

The Carbosan coal terminal has the capacity to meet both current and future export requirements of this fossil fuel, which is in great demand worldwide for energy generation. n
