June 20, 2013 Dear Sir or Madam: On July 27 and 28, the Philippine Senate Building will open its doors to 450 high school and college student leaders from all over the country for the second Philippine Model Congress (PMC). Participants will simulate congressional debates, engage in workshops and learn from transformative guest speakers. The conference hopes to give students the opportunity to tell congress what matters to them. Bills passed will be presented to the actual Philippine Senate and House of Representatives. In doing so, PMC aims to: 1. Give the youth an opportunity to be heard by our country’s leaders. 2. Increase awareness on national issues. 3. Create a community of young people committed to nation-building. Modeled after conferences hosted by Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and other international universities, the Philippine Model Congress is a collaborative effort by Filipino college students from various universities, and has earned the accreditation and sponsorship of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). In this light, we would like to appeal to your company’s generosity by inviting you to partner with us for this event. We have summarized our plans in the accompanying proposal. If you have any concerns, you may contact the undersigned. For more information, you may visit our website at www.philippinemodelcongress.org. We look forward to hearing from you! On behalf of the Organizing Committee,

Lawrence Angelo B. Katigbak M: 0917-5262301 E: lance@philippinemodelcongress.org

ABOUT THE CONGRESS The Mission The Philippine Model Congress aims to strengthen the voice of the Filipino youth, to instill political awareness and civic involvement among Filipino youth by engaging them in a simulation congress, and to build a community of Filipino youth who are invested in the country’s future. Beyond a venue for debate, we will also present students with prominent guest speakers and create a network of student leaders around the country. The Participants The Philippine Model Congress 2013 is open to all Filipino high school and college students from around the country. Interested applicants are required to fill up an application form in the PMC website. Last year’s PMC had over 400 attendees from all around the country. The Venue The Philippine Model Congress will be held in the committee halls of the Philippine Senate, located on the second floor, right wing, of the GSIS Building in Pasay City. These are the rooms where senators conduct committee meetings and are rarely used for public events. The Organizers This event is organized by college students who share a common passion for empowering student leaders and encouraging youth involvement in civic issues. Hailing from different universities, they all came together to organize this event, and hopefully similar ones in the years to come. They are working in partnership with DepEd and CHED to ensure the equal participation of high school and college students from both public and private schools. Schedule of Events July 27
