HERITAGE As they design new models they never forget the past and where they come from. Lineage is their inspiration. According to Richard Wolley, Land Rover Design Studio Director, “The signature clamshell hood, floating roof, deep imposing grill and headlamp graphics have the familiar Range Rover prescences.

LION “A Land Rover’s preferred habitat is an open road where floods sweep away a half kilometer of tarmac in an evening, and hyenas and lion prides rest during the evening hours. “ - Ron Irwin Just as a Land Rover has presence in the automobile world, a lion has presence in the animal kingdom. Exuding strength, regalness, and power the lion is an appropriate animal to compare to the Land Rover brand.

There were some physical characteristics that were shared by the Land Rover and lion as well. Three distinguished lines read from the side vents of the car and the whiskers of the lion. The headlights of the car and nose of the lion have similar shapes. Finally, the characteristic of the under carriage of the car translates to the angle created by the lion’s nose.

STYLE GUIDE

Proportions and Shape

The proportions found in the Range Rover and lion are equal to that of 2/3 and 1/3. These porpotions are something to take into consideration when designing something after the Land Rover brand. The fact that it translates to both the car and the lion is fitting.

LION According to an interview with Kim Brisbourne, Principal Designer of Color & Materials, it is thought that Luxor will be a very popular exterior color due to its massive exposure. This color works well with the lion due to the neutrality. Comparing the exterior colors of the car to those of the lion the color scheme was decided on the central colors of Causeway Grey Amber Luxor Corris Grey

RELLO COLOR PALETTE

Benjamin Moore’s Senior Interior Design stated that, “yellow has always represented a sense of optimism.” By looking to the color trends of 2013 I was able to create a diverse palette to choose from. Mixing some brighter colors with more subdued tones I believe provided a great contrast. Yellow is also the first color the human eye notices.
