Hunter Sport Festival The 2009 NIB Hunter Festival of Sport will be held during the school holidays from 11 to 26 July. The main purpose of the festival is to give particularly young people an opportunity to be involved in enjoyable, healthy sporting activities during the school winter vacation. The nib Hunter Festival of Sport is an annual event that has run since 1991. There will be coaching clinics and ‘come and try days’ which include badminton, horse riding and horse management, trampoline, croquet, tae kwon do, orienteering, rifle club, netball, cheerleading, fun day for persons with a disability, athletics coaching day and a cricket bowling clinic. Also featured are competitions for Regional Academies in netball, rugby league and softball, along with Masters sports competitions. Orientation to Managing Teams is a workshop ideal for people who are working with team sports, or individual athletes making up a team, who are involved at

school, junior, local club, association or regional level and will be held on 15 July from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Newcastle Netball Clubhouse, Union Street, Newcastle. The Developing Effective Training Sessions workshop will be held on 22 July from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Newcastle Netball Clubhouse, Union Street, Newcastle. It will cover aspects of planning and managing your training sessions to get the most effective results in developing and motivating your team or athletes. Parking will be available in No. 1 Sports ground (entry via Parry Street) for both workshops. All are welcome to attend either free workshop but you must register by filling in an application form.
