CUNNINGHAM LKNW RECOGNIZES A WOMAN DOING EXCEPTIONAL WORK IN THE
LAKE NORMAN COMMUNITY, A LEADER WHO IS PAVING THE WAY TO
CHANGING OUR ATTITUDES AND INSPIRING CONFIDENCE IN THE FUTURE.
on CREATING SAFE SPACES FOR KIDS: I started Good Clean Fun because my daughter became deathly ill from a quick-serve restaurant playground. We almost lost her twice when she was hospitalized. After that incident, I spent three years doing research on playgrounds, safety, disinfection, and regulations regarding play areas. I started a second company, Good Clean Fun Products, in 2005. I wanted to create something I knew was safe after what happened with my daughter. It was such a painful, scary time. on LOVING HER PEEPS: Lake Norman is obviously a beautiful and growing community, but what I really love about the area are the people. I have met some of the most genuine and selfless people I have ever known! on THE LIFE-ALTERING CHALLENGES OF A PANDEMIC: The onset of the COVID-19
pandemic really rocked my world and took all I had to not give up. It was a terribly frightening time. I had to furlough all my employees, sell one of my work vehicles, tools, and equipment just to keep the lights on. After running a successful business for 25 years I basically had to reinvent myself. I guess the word “pivot” could be used to describe my resiliency during this time, but it was a matter of survival.
on SAVORING SWEET MOMENTS WITH HER LOVES: I love to cook and garden, and my
husband, Brian, and I enjoy working out together. We love nature and taking our dog, Rudy, on hikes at different parks in the LKN area. When I envision my perfect day, that would mean waking up with the man I love, walking the dog, and spending quality time with my family and friends. Life doesn’t get any better than that!
on TURNING INWARD: As for advice for other businesswomen, always trust your gut. Rely on people that you trust and those who have been successful in their own journeys to weigh in on any challenges that you are facing and to give you guidance. Don’t give the naysayers a second thought. If you believe in yourself and your mission, you will be successful. w
