Neil Finn - Dizzy Heights There aren’t many artists whose songs and emotive performances have infiltrated the hearts and minds of a generation of Australians in quite the same way as NEIL FINN. In March 2014 Finn will return for a national tour in support of his new album ‘Dizzy Heights’. The ‘Dizzy Heights’ Tour will follow the February 7 release of Finn’s third solo album - ‘Dizzy Heights’ - and will give the iconic artist the opportunity to showcase these new songs as part of his already extensive repertoire. Fans can expect to hear new songs like ‘Divebomber’ and ‘Flying In The Face Of Love’ interspersed with a catalogue of songs that are now intrinsically part of Australian culture. Neil Finn said, “I have a long-lasting and unique connection with Australian audiences and want to make this upcoming tour quite special. It is an exciting prospect as I am appearing under my own name and so am able to bring out a personal selection of the best songs from all the eras of my musical life as well present new songs from the album Dizzy Heights.” Special guest for Finn on all show dates is the ubertalented Utah-based rock and folk singer JOSHUA JAMES.

adapted and created by shake & stir theatre co “War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength” Oceania; a Nation perpetually at war, where cameras watch every move and Thought Police roam the streets. A place Winston Smith calls home. By day, Winston is an editor at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history to align the past with the radical political agenda of the ruling party and its illusive leader, Big Brother. But, when he’s handed a note that says simply ‘I love you’ by a woman he hardly knows, he decides to risk everything in a search for the real truth. From the team that brought you Animal Farm, this terrifyingly frightening new stage adaptation brings George Orwell’s final novel screaming into the present. “... to borrow from Newspeak, “doubleplusgood” doesn’t quite do 1984 justice. Can Big Brother approve us going up to “tripleplusgood”?” The Courier-Mail

Riotously funny! An all new comedy creation from the twisted mind of Strassman. Alternate realities? Parallel universes? Strassman’s sidesplitting new show tumbles down the rabbit hole – a mind-bending journey where nothing is as it seems. Chuck and Ted E. Bare are back, transformed by a strange ‘wish’ into bizzaro-alternate selves. The road home may be scary for Strassman... but a hilarious scream for us! What have the critics said? At the Edinburgh Festival, The List said “Absolute genius. The writing is truly superb and the performance – or should that be performances? – breathtaking in linguistic and ventriloquistic dexterity. Takes the ancient art of ventriloquism up several notches.”

Long Gone Lonesome Cowgirls a play by Philip Dean. Originally published in 1995 and receiving a Matilda Award in the same year. Thrown together by chance, two women strike up an unexpected friendship. Vicki and Rae are united by their devotion to country music, American cowboy heroes and their abandonment by errant husbands. Set in a Queensland country town in the mid-1960s. Vicki is a housewife and conforming Catholic, forever awaiting the arrival of her itinerant husband. Into her small-town existence comes Rae, a brash, hard-living barmaid, abandoned on the roadside by her rodeo-riding husband of 5 weeks. Together they find their way through the confusions of the not-so-swinging sixties towards independence, carried on dreams and the songs of Hank Williams, Patsy Kline and Johnny Cash.

By Vanessa Bates, Directed by Chris Bendall Thought you knew Grimm’s fairy tales? Think again. Helpmann Award winner Ursula Yovich (Australia, Jindabyne) plays a cast of sideline female characters who’ve been updated and dropped into the gutters and alleyways of bleak Australian life. From one of Australia’s most original contemporary playwrights, Vanessa Bates, The Magic Hour is a gutsy one-woman comedy told with dark humour and soulful song. A night of stories told at twilight with werewolves and a touch of magic…
