LANDIS WOODS ART SHOW Artist Location Map September 24, 2022

Landis Woods Outdoor FineArt Show Judge Biography

Susan Davitti Darling

My life in art started with photography. My Dad was a professional photographer and my first lessons in composition were from him. We had a darkroom in our basement where my sister and I could process our own black and white film and images. In my mind, making photographs was part science and part magic. I attended Pennsylvania School of Art and Design (now PCAD), as an adult and graduated from Millersville University with a degree in commercial art. My education helped position me to take on numerous corporate projects, such as creating greeting cards, calendars and labels for a local winery. Most of what I currently create is fine art. Two of my pieces are in the permanent collection at Elizabethtown College. Several pieces of my art are in the Lancaster Arts Hotel. Collage is currently my favorite medium. There is nothing finer than sharing what I know with others. York Art Association and Garth Gallery in Columbia is where you can find me teaching collage. Statement

Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Collage satisfies the collector in me. I love to recycle, recreate and reuse discarded books, brochures and items that often end up in a recycling bin. Painting my own collage papers is a common practice as well. My inspiration comes from the rustling of leaves, the color of the evening sky and the joy in my heart. Art is the poetry of my world.
