Breast Implants and Cancer: Issues In Diagnosing With more women opting for breast implants, breast augmentation has been reported the second highest in demand plastic surgery abroad. It has been observed reportedly that up to half a million females in America have undergone this form of plastic surgery. This definitely has paved way for the cosmetic surgeons to make it big. However, this might not be totally welcoming from health perspective of the patients. Although FDA had initially restricted breast implants to patients post their breast cancer treatment or mastectomy, FDA relaxed this rule further for the general public too. PDFmyURL.com

Nowadays, more that a want, it is a craze! Breast implants have seen a surge in the demand after FDAs approval. And with this cosmetic surgeons also have all the good reasons to be happy by making more money. Breast implants definitely contour your breasts and enhance the body curve. But, it has also been observed that these shield the inner tissues while taking x-rays and also cause damage or breaking of the tissues internally. Besides other problems, the most worrisome disadvantage of this form of plastic surgery is that the implant (whether silicon or gel) shields the inner tissues from being detected by the radioactive rays. This hinders the early detection of cancer among the prospects. Diagnosis of cancer becomes an issue based on the placing of the implant. If it is placed below the chest, then the results of mammography are relatively better than those obtained under the circumstances when placed above the chest. But still, you would not get 100 percent visibility through the breasts as already mentioned; these implants are radioactive proof to a great extent. And so most of the times there is a higher degree of obscurity in the results of mammography! Having said so, still most of the women are inclined towards this surgery. It is advisable for them to be careful by consulting the doctor frequently for routine check up and taking out MRI every 2 years or so per the recommendations of the doctor.
