Art and design – What’s on at Tate Modern Tate Modern is a family of four art galleries holding the UK’s collection of British art and is found in this country’s capital, London. It is situated on the South Bank just by the Millennium Bridge and is open from 10:00am till 6:00pm Sunday to Thursday and 10:00am till 10:00pm Friday to Saturday. Admission is free, although a charge is made for special exhibitions. There is also a restaurant and a cafe for refreshments.

The Tate Modern holds the national collection of British art from the 1500s through to today. It also has a lot of international and contemporary art. The Tate Modern has a vast collection of art including nearly 70,000 artworks by over 3,000 different artists and the collection is growing every year.

A summer of Art in the North East If you are unable to go far to view amazing art in galleries like Tate Modern there are many local art galleries in the North-East. For example:
