Student Governing Board 2009-2010
SGB The Outback Student Governing Board plays an active role in the management of the facility, programming, community outreach, and fundraising. The SGB is led by a president, vice president, a secretary, a treasurer, and committee chairs.
Leadership Events This year, the SGB participated in a team building activity at the SONO Field House!
Guest Speakers The SGB engaged in conversation with guest speaker Eric Schleifer on topics such as leadership, group dynamics and how the Governing Board can be more effective as a team.
Management of the Facility Approve monthly calendars. Created SGB Code of Conduct Serve as role models and leaders to their peers and members of the Outback Teen Center. Volunteer at Outback events.
PROGRAMMING & EVENTS Plan programs and events – CAPT week dance 200 student in attendance
Middle School Idea Contest – Voted on the winner of the middle school idea contest.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH SGB Members volunteered their time to . . . Held a Pet Adoption with Strays and Others in Oct. 3, 2009. Helped out at the Project Friendship Halloween Party at the Outback on Nov. 1, 2009. Led an Asset Building Cookie Decorating Event in Partnership with the YAPB on Dec. 17, 2009. Assisted and took a leadership role to support Kids Helping Kids with their â€œWork Out for Wellsâ€? event on January 29, 2010. Participated in Clean Your Mile on April 21, 2010. Will be assisting the Youth Adult Partnership Board with their Annual Spring Fling where they dance and mingled with residents at the Waveny Care Center in May 2010.

FUNDRAISING Assisted the Adult Board with the Annual Appeal raising $864. Helped to sell tickets to the Annual Hoops event. Partnered with the YMCA Youth Leaders group to put on a dance with 200 teens in attendance and raised $1,862. TOTAL RAISED: $2,726
