AND BEYOND THE BASICS... Additionally, all students receive foreign language, art, physical education, music and technology lab enrichment. Country Day School provides the opportunity for additional assistance to students through an academic support program. Students work one-on-one with our support teacher three times per week on material to enrich their learning or provide them with additional instruction and practice. Visiting speakers and musicians, travel to distant places, community outreach, and a variety of traditional school events help our students extend their learning beyond the classroom.
There is so much more to our program than “just the basics.” In addition to our comprehensive curriculum, we provide a forum for personal growth, a broader world view, and the opportunity to develop leadership and service skills.

Students participate in community projects that promote a spirit of gratitude and giving. We partner with a local Alzheimer’s respite care facility to provide interaction between our children and the adults who are part of this day program. We also work with several agencies to collect food and supplies for those in need. Our students’ art work is featured at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library and local places of business.
Our school community hosts special events like the Art Show, Thanksgiving Feast and Christmas Program. School planned field trips help children see the application of skills learned and provide new and interesting experiences. For example, kindergarten visits the pumpkin patch, while the upper grade students will travel to Tunica Hills for a rock scavenger hunt. Each year the fifth grade class travels to the Grand Canyon as an extension of the curriculum. Students study biomes, geology, and the early history of America, and then apply their knowledge while on the trip.
