Traffic growth at the MSIA In 2012, the Mariscal Sucre Airport had a total of 5,425,159 passengers (arrival and departure in international and domestic flights). This figure showed a slight increase of 1% compared to 2011. As in previous years, 67% of the market is of domestic passengers while international passenger traffic is 33%. The domestic and international airlines made a total 67,698 aircraft operations. This represents a decrease of 7.1% vs. 2011. The total maximum takeoff weight was 2,749,011 tons, which represents a decrease of 0.9% compared to 2011. August remained the month with the highest number of passengers. In 2012, there were 520,291 international and domestic passengers.

Domestic Traffic The number of domestic passengers departing and arriving who traveled in 2012 was 3,578,444, representing a decrease of 2.7% compared with 2011. A total of 392 regular weekly frequencies were carried out, reaching 12 cities in Ecuador. Below are some key statistics: •  July was the month with the highest passenger traffic on domestic flights (departure and arrival) with a total of 323,342 passengers. •  The average daily total departing passengers for domestic flights in 2012 was 4,888; representing a decrease of 3.8% compared with 2011. •  The average highest monthly growth in the number of domestic passengers (departure and arrival) was 12,577, an increase of 4.2% over the same month in 2011. •  In 2012, total aircraft movements on domestic flights were 42,220;
