FACING THE MUSICAL THE makers of West End hits Miss Saigon and Les Miserables return this month with the launch of Marguerite, starring award-winning Ruthie Henshall, at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. BEVERLY Hills has a new rival — Gloucestershire, which these days is packed with celeb haunts as well as royals. IT’S HOT TO HIKE HIKING is all the rage among the Hollywood glitterati — so much so that there was outcry when it was reported that the land above the LA ‘Hollywood’ sign — a favourite hikers’ haunt — had been put on the market. ECO-CONSCIOUS TRAVEL

MULBERRY BRANCHES OUT EMMA HILL’S hotly anticipated debut collection for Mulberry launches in September. Hill took over from Katie Grand in December, and boasts pretty impressive credentials (lines for Gap, Chloe, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein and Burberry, with a few It-bags along the way). SHORT-HAUL flights are becoming an eco-social faux pas. Taxis too. But with the new Eurostar terminal at London’s St Pancras having the world’s longest champagne bar, rail travel has become convenient and glamorous. MISS LALA’S BOUDOIR — the lingerie boutique in London’s leafy Primrose Hill — is already a must-go destination for celebrities such as Gwen Stefani, Helena Bonham Carter and Amy Winehouse. IT’S official — this is the age of the Yummy Mummy. The market for luxury maternity and childbirth products has blossomed, while The Kitchen Table Tycoon: How To Make It Work As A Mother And An Entrepreneur was published in March. Last month, Cupcake, a new brand of private members’ club and spa, devoted to mothers and mothers-to-be, opened in South West London. IN THE CLUB THIS summer, it’s all about private members’ clubs. Club in London’s Soho is already one of the city’s most popular venues. Founder Dezzi McCausland is launching a second venture on St Martin’s Lane this month, just a stone’s throw from Bungalow 8.

AQUASCUTUM has already had women rushing out for their Aquascutum Vintage range, inspired by archive pieces from the 1950s. Now Hackett looks set to do the same for boys, with its new Mayfair suit collection inspired by the 1960s photography of David Bailey and Lord Snowdon. BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE SIMON DOONAN’S memoirs have already caused such a stir that the TV rights have been snapped up by the producers of The Office. In Beautiful People, out earlier this month, the style columnist and former creative director at Barneys describes with comic candour his childhood in Reading and journey to the bright lights of London and New York.

FASHION-LOVING brides have never had so much choice, with a growing number of fashion label bridal collections. In March, Lanvin’s bridal range launched at Dover Street Market in London. Meanwhile, Jenny Packham’s bridal designs have been so popular she opened a separate bridal boutique in 2006, followed by a bridal accessories store last year. Similarly, Temperley’s bridal collection (right) is growing rapidly, alongside a bespoke bridal service. Next up, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman is launching her own bridal line. Marchesa counts Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller and Renee Zellweger among its fans. Chapman has reportedly created Coleen McLoughlin’s dress for her summer nuptials.

LIBERTY LOVERS LIBERTY OF LONDON, the luxury in-house brand for Liberty, is unveiling a stand-alone flagship in London’s Sloane Street. The label was launched in 2005 with Tamara Salmon at the creative helm, drawing on the store’s archive designs.
