The article, entitled 1. ‘Sovereign citizen’ movement now on FBI’s radar, frames the belief that “the U.S. is essentially under martial law,” along with support for reintroducing the gold standard, as political views indicative of violent extremism.

The report quotes Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center, who in one fell swoop demonizes “more than 100,00 Americans” as domestic terrorists.

“This is a movement that has absolutely exploded,” said Mark Potok, a senior fellow at the Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit organization based in Montgomery, Ala., that tracks domestic terrorists and hate groups. More than 100,000 Americans have aligned themselves with the sovereign citizens, the center said.

Potok specializes in seizing upon tragedies to push his organization’s political agenda.

Immediately after the shooting of US Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Potok took to the airwaves to blame the attempted assassination on the “radical right,” when the shooter, Jared Loughner, was described by those who knew him as a “left-wing pothead”.

Potok has been described as “the Boy Who Cried Right-Wing Terrorist” because of his obsession with exploiting almost every act of violence to impugn conservatives.

“The fact that he is consistently wrong about, well, just about everything — from the

political views of the supposed right wingers to the supposedly violent nature of conservative groups to the mere presence of violent crime — does not seem to dissuade Old Media from using him to smear conservatives,” explains Lachlan Markay.

The SPLC makes tens of millions of dollars every year demonizing politically active Americans as domestic terrorists, making it the most profitable “civil rights charity” in America, and yet the establishment media continues to treat the organization and its mouthpieces like Potok as impartial observers.

Of course, any political group with such a substantial membership is bound to contain a smattering of crazies – the report claims members of the Sovereign Citizen movement have killed six police officers over the course of the last 12 years – but to demonize over 100,000 Americans as violent terrorists on a par with Al-Qaeda because they express concerns about the militarization of law enforcement is clearly asinine.

Unfortunately, it’s now par for the course.

Despite the fact that the federal government was forced to back down on framing Ron Paul supporters, libertarians, people who display bumper stickers, people who own gold, or even people who fly a U.S. flag, as terrorists under the infamous MIAC report, the rush to denounce legitimate political beliefs as thought crimes, or even mundane behaviors, by insinuating they are shared by terrorists, has accelerated in recent months.

Under the FBI’s Communities Against Terrorism program, the bulk purchase of food is labeled as a potential indication of terrorist activity, as is using cash to pay for a cup of coffee, and showing an interest in web privacy when using the Internet in a public place.

As we have documented on numerous occasions, the federal government routinely characterizes mundane behavior as extremist activity or a potential indicator of terrorist intent. As part of its ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign, the Department of Homeland Security educates the public that generic activities performed by millions of people every day, including using a video camera, talking to police officers, wearing hoodies, driving vans, writing on a piece of paper, and using a cell phone recording application,” are all potential signs of terrorist activity.

And yet Barack Obama has done the equivalent of precisely that with his launch of ‘African Americans for Obama’.

The program urges black Americans to volunteer their time by making calls, organizing events and going door to door in their neighborhoods encouraging other African Americans to vote for Obama.

Not only is Obama playing the race card in an attempt to pressure black Americans into voting for him, he is also violating the separation between church and state. In the video promo for the campaign, Obama urges black people to pressure churches into supporting his administration by getting his message out via “the faith community”. He also calls on voters to become “congregation captains”.

Again, imagine what the reaction would be any of the Republican candidates launched a ‘Whites for Romney’, ‘Whites for Santorum’ or ‘Whites for Gingrich’ campaign. There would be nonstop uproar. But Obama does the equivalent and gets a free pass.

“I thought race didn’t matter Mr. President?” asks Chad Hasty. “I don’t think MLK would be too pleased with you at all. African-Americans

for Obama? Give me a break.

Under this President, more blacks are unemployed. More blacks are on food stamps. If I had to bet though, Obama will still pull 93% of the black vote. Again, just a wild guess.”

As part of his efforts to lock down the black community as a voting bloc, Obama has arrived in Florida accompanied by an invasion of rappers and NBA basketball stars – all at taxpayer expense.

“The group — which organizers said includes Magic Johnson, Alonzo Mourning and NBA Commissioner David Stern — will meet with President Obama for a $30,000-a-plate fundraiser at the (actual) home court of Dallas Mavericks guard Vince Carter in his Isleworth mansion,” 1. reports the Orlando Sentinel.

The expensive fundraising trip is timed to coincide with Sunday’s 61st NBA All-Star Game at Orlando’s Amway Center.

How the White House views the right to online privacy Hayley Tsukayama Washington Post February 24, 2012 The Obama administration announced what it calls its “Privacy Bill of Rights” Thursday, a long-awaited framework suggesting how companies should protect consumer information online What are the rights? The document outlines seven main “rights” that consumers should have, and the administration will work with Congress to enact legislation based on these rights.

Notably, there’s no mention of mobile privacy in this document.

Individual Control: In a nutshell, people should have the right to control their own data.

Companies should write clear, easy-to-understand privacy policies, and give consumers a way to limit consent or opt out of data collection that is as easy as opting in.

— Transparency: Companies should be clear about what data they collect, why they need it, how they use it, who they share it with and when they will delete it.

— Respect for Context: This section of the privacy bill of rights points to special treatment for information gathered from children and teens. Essentially, this “right” declares the consumers should be able to expect that any data companies collect will be used in a way consistent with the way it was provided. So, if a company collects information for one purpose, it can’t then decide that it wants to use that data for another purpose.

— Security: Consumers have a right to expect their data will be stored and transmitted securely.

— Access and Accuracy: Consumers should be able to access their own, accurate personal data and be able to easily correct any personal data companies handle.

— Focused Collection: Companies shouldn’t collect more data than they need, and consumers should have the right to say what those limits are, within reason. Companies should also delete any data they don’t need, if they can do so without breaking the law.

— Accountability: Companies should hold their employees responsible for adhering to these

rights, and consumers should be able to expect that they do. This measure calls for full audits, when appropriate, and special training for employees.

Who can enforce these? Is this a mandate? These are the White House’s recommendations for the way to proceed on privacy, but they are still voluntary guidelines. The Federal Trade Commission can police companies that agree to follow the guidelines.

“The Administration expects that a company’s public commitment to adhere to a code of conduct will be enforceable under existing FTC authority, just as a company is bound today to follow its privacy commitments,” the White House said in a fact sheet on the proposal.

Will there be a law? The administration has said that it will use this privacy framework as a guide for future comprehensive legislation, and to work with state attorneys general on getting the authority to enforce the bill of rights.

But there are some doubts about whether comprehensive legislation will make it through Congress — particularly in an election year.

There are a handful of privacy bills that have been introduced in this session of Congress, but they have failed to gain much traction.

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), who has worked with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on a draft for comprehensive legislation for nearly two years, reissued a call to move forward on privacy legislation Thursday.

“Senator McCain and I have been building support for our bipartisan approach for almost two years and I welcome the Administration’s call for a baseline code of conduct wholly consistent with what we’ve been promoting,” he said in a statement. “Now let’s get something done.”

What’s this “do not track” button I’m hearing about? In conjunction with the White House’s announcement Thursday, several of the largest online advertising industry groups said they will implement “do not track” technology in Web browsers. There is no “do not track” provision in the bill of rights; this is a voluntary decision from the industry.

“Do not track” has been around for a while, but they’ve been a mixed bag in the past because while they have let advertisers know that users don’t want to be followed across the Web, not all advertisers had agreed to abide by the request.

The 400 companies in the Digital Advertising Alliance have agreed not to use data from consumers who don’t want to be tracked to customize ads or to use the data for certain purposes such as employment, health care or insurance.

They will, however, still use information from these consumers for market research. The “do not track” button will not apply to all things: Companies will still be able to track, for example, things users do when signed in to services or things they choose to “Like” through Facebook’s plug-ins.
